No the broken tracks are on the PCB between 2 resistors and a pad where a resistor was meant to go for a different configuration probably but was not installed. The resistors ends are corroded to the point there open circuit. If I put an iron on them they would probably turn to dust. I have the value of the resistor as its 1K (102) writen on it but the caps are a different kettle of fish.

Alastair I would Like to chat to you, being as we are local to each other about TV's on one of the LG the conectors are ok, just some corroded resistors and a bad track. This is one I want to fix as its a 3d model. But a chat be nice as I am getting really into this and you seem a man in the know. Dont worry I am not after loads of free repair tips lol

That panasonic has been a bit of an pita. I got as far as taking out PSU to have a gander for soemthing obvious. As I am an electronic engineer by trade and I have worked mostly on projectors...

Alastair I have a 42 Inch Panasonic Vera Plasma with 10 LED Blins, its a complete TV with all boards and a good screen. Perhaps you can help with me 2 LG's

That might be the case, but I thikn there is more to it than that. To me it looks like a heavy build up of flux and the parts have corroded or reacted with metal case around the panel. The Ribbon cable actually burned in half and burned the connector. LG seem to think its a potential problem as they have escelated my concerns. That small bit of damage has rendered the units write offs. To me its an abvious design flaw.

Thanks Alastair looks like we both in swansea. I am determined to find a way to get these going as there good sets when working. Sadly I think the PCB are toast Damage just to great to salvage them. On the 47 Inch it actually burned the ribbon cable in half inside the conector.

I am more upset about they glued the LCD panel ribbons on instead of using a connector so you can not replace the 2 boards

Have a look at my thread I just posted with 2 LG TV's. Dont be so quick to suspect the main board. Along the bottom of the unit is 2 PCB under the metal case directly along the bottom of the panel which seem to break down and cause this issue. If any fluid dripped down the screen from cleaning would cause this. Sadly the ribbons are glued onto the board meaning you are unable to replace.

Just wanted to put the feelers out there, I have been seeing a lot of LG LCD TV;s recently with very serious failure of the buffer boards that connect the TCON to the LCD Panel (the 2 strip boards that run along the bottom). I think its a very poor design they glued the ribbon cables onto the PCB. The 2 panels in this case are perfect working order but I am unable to repair both TV due to the damage on the PCB boards. I have attached pics so you can see what I mean. On the 47 Inch the damage was that bad it actually melted the connector and ribbon cable completely....
