Re: Panasonic TC-P50U2 - 1 blink
On the suggestion of an EE I work with, I pressed down on each of the BGA ICs while powering on the TV and didn't get different results. I may give him the board to re flow the solder anyways.

Re: Panasonic TC-P50U2 - 1 blink
I already have. Caps all look fine, and no scorch marks or signs of thermal stress. I didn't pull out a magnifying glass quite yet but all the solder joints look sound.

Panasonic TC-P50U2 - 1 blink
A friend of mine sold me his non functional Panasonic TC-P50U2 as is. The TV occasionally work when powered on, but most of the time the set would power on for a couple seconds, and then blink the light once (and repeating that indefinitely).
Based on the service manual I've seen, this code means the A board needs to be replaced. However I can't get over the fact that the TV does in fact decide to work every so often (albeit rarely) which tells me that a single component may be on the edge of failure.
Are there any tests I should try to locate a failed/failing component...
