  • SONY Bravia kdl-40w4100 bad Tcon sympthons

Ive had this TV for years and this is the first tie it has gave me problems.
When it gets hot (after 15-20 minutes) the image starts to look brighter than it should, colors distorted, and the longer its on the worst the issue becomes.

Ive read this is a classic issue on older TVs with AS15 ICs, but this particular model does not have an AS15 chip on the Tcon board, does anyone have experience on this particular model? does this TV even use an AS15 chip? i cant find it unless its labeled as somehing else or is located on other board and not on the T-con.

Well, after a long hiatus, im back on my last attempt at fixing this tv... asked a local guy for his opinion, and after 2 days he's positive on the buffer board to be fried, so, is a matter of either replace the shorted IC or replace thw whole board... any idea on where exactly is the buffer board on this model? ill attach a pic, i just can't see where is it supoposed to be, im looking for any chip with a heatsink on top but i may be wrong....

correct me if im wrong but, if it looks fine for 20 minutes, then its not a bad panel isnt it? ive checked the tab bond, gently wigling to see if theres any change on the image but nothing happens.

well, i let the Tv untouched and ujnplugged for about 3 weeks, this morning i did just a test, and to my surprise, it looks "fine", however, after 10-15 minutes, neon coloured lines starts to appear again in the same area.

Does this mean it's just a bad capacitor that, after been completely discharged makes the Tv look fine? any ideas before it goes into the trash?...

Well, it only has one ribbon, right at the bottom of the panel and carefully wiggling the ribbon doesnt make any difference, however, i noticed that the ribbon gets extremely hot, is this normal? i couldnt put my finger over the center of it for more than 3 seconds.

    What else should i test?

  • Samsung UN32D4003BD display has black line

Hi, long story short, about 2 weeks ago there was a blackout in my neighborhood, then when i powered on the TV, it showed some strange thin purple/green lines at the top of the display, after 2-3 hours of use those thin lines became really visible and the top part of the display became white.

took it to a workshop for diagnose and the guy told me there's no fix for it, that i should look for a broken one and replace the whole display unit cause the "flex lights" (thats the word he used) are broken, so i've just took it apart and i can see the back panel completely lit,...
