Re: Dell N5050 dead short
Still in need of some help here. Have standby voltage and white power light on an empty board (no CPU or memory installed) only because PT4301,2,3,4,8 and 9 are removed. If they're installed, board shorts immediately. Why? Because I measure 19v across PL4301,2 and 3. Isn't that voltage only suppose to go as far as the upper fets (PU4302,5, and 8)? This can't be good

Re: Samsung UN32H5201AFXZA completely dead
-No voltage between caps by CNM803
-Yes, 240DCV at caps near CNL802...

Re: Samsung UN32H5201AFXZA completely dead
-Positive, 1,3,5 and 7 are 0
-Rating of the caps are 350V
-Sure about the 240V on pin 1, measured it with 2 known good meters because I was surprised too....

Samsung UN32H5201AFXZA completely dead
Got this TV from a friend who said it was not on a surge protector and one day simply wouldn't turn on. On CNL802 I measure 240VDC on pin 1, 0 on the rest. On CNM803 I measure 0 on all pins. Not sure where else to measure, I'm a first timer. TIA...

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Disregard last statement of last post, I think I get it now. PQ7 does not generate 28V, only PU4 does. PQ7 and 51 are there to kill PQ47 if something wrong is detected on board.

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
PQ50 was causing low resistance between gate and source of PQ47 pads, that's fixed.
Still need 26V out of PQ7 to PR155. D/C# signal from EC of good board is .002, bad board .08. Signal too high on bad board?...Last edited by p1muserfan; 12-19-2015, 08:24 AM.

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Nothing at gate of PQ47 because
#1: ACOK_IN is 0 volts because AD_ID pin of connector connects to R62>D16>+3VPCU>EC. Once EC has power it can generate D/C# signal for PQ7 which will then output 26V across PR155 to gate of PQ47.
On working board I have 1.5v to D16/3.3v out. On crap board about 1.3v in D16/.8v out=not enough to power EC. What raises the voltage on the other side of that diode? Because both diodes measure the same.
#2: ACOK# is fine, almost 0
#3 Checked resistance...Last edited by p1muserfan; 12-18-2015, 11:30 AM.

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Probably not much help but found PR160 to be 8K ohms instead of 100 ohms so after change now have .5v to gate of PQ47. Problem is, now have that same .5v on output of PQ47 too, is it leaking?
And because I have 26v on one side of PR158 but 0 on the other, it take voltage across PR155 to "draw" the voltage across PR158 too?

Re: HP Pavilion dv6-7010us with no Power
Can't find a schematic for this thing, anybody else? Do you have voltage at any of the connector pins or is this thing short?

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Flashed bios, no help, even with correct HP adapter.
I've got an almost identical board (DAAX3MB16A1) that receives power so I've got a "blueprint". There has to be 26v ACOK_IN from PQ7 and then across PR155. What does the # after D/C which is the base of PQ7 and comes from the EC mean? Is that something that can be measured? Is it a signal that can can be seen with a scope?...

Re: Dell N5050 dead short
Found it, it was PU4307, replaced, so now I'm back to having 3,5v power to the board with nothing installed. With no power to the board and no CPU installed, I'm measuring pretty high resistance to ground on the 3 CPU power coils. With a CPU installed I measure about 16 ohms, which I understand to be about right. So is my chipset ok? Hate to keep installing a CPU and having the board short every time I plug it in, is there something else I can check?

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Thanks for your explanation on the gate circuitry.
The power brick I use is universal with different plug ends for different boards. It also has digital readout for volts so if I have a short on a board the adapter cuts off.
If the EC is dead I have no way of knowing, I need a frequency counter to measure the crystal for it, then maybe it would generate the D/C# signal?
I'm sorry, how do I measure current consumption from adapter?
No voltage on PL8, I need voltage to PU5 first, no?...

Re: Dell N5050 dead short
I installed a CPU, plugged the board in and it shorted again, blowing PU4308. Removed PU4308 and PL4303. VCC Core side pad of PL4303 measures about 1 ohm to ground. With my power supply set to 1 volt and 2 amps on that pad, I measure 1 volt and about 1.65 amps. I know a dead short would show no voltage and 2 amps and no problem would show 2 volts and 0 amps. So what is my power supply showing me?Last edited by p1muserfan; 12-13-2015, 08:53 PM.

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
PQ50 gate voltage the same as PQ47, about .2v
3.3 and 5V coils measure high resistance (that's good)
Battery is dead, can't test
Not sure I want to remove PR155 and check without it
What determines the gate voltage for PQ47?
How does PQ51 and voltage across PR160, 155, and 158 work?
Need to learn circuit theory...

HP DV9000 in a restart loop
Have an HP DV9000 that starts for about 25 seconds with no video, shuts down, then repeats the cycle until I hold the power button down and shut it off. BIOS? GPU?

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
Can I put voltage to gate of PQ47 with my power supply? 28 volts?

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
I have no voltage on any pin of PQ51, only pin 1 is short to ground and it tests good in diode mode source/drain. Gate of PQ47 not short to ground. Nothing on either side of PR155 also....Last edited by p1muserfan; 12-11-2015, 08:41 AM.

Re: HP G62 Quanta AX3 No power
PR158 is my problem then because I have 28v on one side but nothing on the other. It does measure 150k like it should so why no voltage on the other side?...
