  • Should I buy Samsung PN58C8000?

    Hi,
I'm shopping for a tv for football season and came across a Samsung PN58C8000 plasma for $250. Pictures show it to be in good condition (no cracks, banding, burn-in). If the tv's in good condition, would you recommend buying it? I know there's always a risk buying used tvs, but for a 58" 2010 plasma smart tv with 3D is $200-$250 worth the risk. To an untrained eye who hasn't had a tv in over 5 years, are 2010 plasmas notably inferior? Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    dan8

Thanks for the advice. I'll try and negotiate. Any questions you recommend I ask or big red flags to look out for?

  • Samsung PN51D6500 won't turn on

    Hi,

So I've been shopping for a TV and came across somebody selling a broken Samsung PN51D6500 for $200. "Doesn't turn on anymore. Red light flashes in the front and green light in the back." I asked them about clicking and they say when they plug it in there's an initial click. I'm waiting for more details. Long story short, I know this problem could be anything. I'm no electrician, but I'm curious and don't mind getting my hands dirty. Just curious at what price this could be worth the risk. Worst case, could this TV be parted out to recoup my money? When I know more...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi everybody,
I stumbled on to this site doing a little research into tv repair. I guess I'd just rather fix something old than buy something new- cheaper and more fun. I don't know much, but this seems like a great place to learn. I look forward to bothering you all with my questions, and hopefully learn enough to one be the guy on the other end of the questions (at least some of them). Thanks for having me (not that it was a choice).

    Daniel
