Re: Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
I finally found a SD board at a reasonable price. Still looking for a SU board.
Is there any risk in installing the SD board to see if that fixes it?

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
I did some digging are figured out that I ordered the wrong SC board. I didn't realize mine had an "AM" suffix after the part number on the bar code sticker. Turns out the board without the suffix is for a different model.
I ordered the correct SC board and installed it, now I get 7 blink codes and no picture. According to the manual:
Driver SOS2 SU-Board
(SU/SD Connector DET) SD-Board
(SU/SD Scan and Logic IC) *
I don't understand what these notes...

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
I checked the probe resistance and it was 1-2 Ohms, I did not reverse. The pins were labeled with 2 and 8 on the even number side of the terminal, so I'm pretty sure I got the right ones.
I don't understand the abbreviations you included between the resistance numbers here:
SU41
2 = 10M VF5V 5.7M
6 = open VSCN-F 221K
8 = open VFO 2.2M
SU42
1= open VFO 2.2M
2= open VSCN-F 221K
6= 5.6 M VF5V 5.7M

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
I checked with items disconnected as listed, but I left the power terminal screws and ground screws attached, measurements taken from specified pins to ground terminals:
SU41
2 = 10M
6 = open
8 = open
SU42
1= open
2= open
6= 5.6 M
I used a basic DMM Fluke 12 which I think only measures up to 40M. I assume that should cover the necessary resistance range?
Should I isolate the boards before measuring (disconnect power supply screws)?

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
I don't see any adjustment screws or pots on the SC board.
The blob does not seem to move. I have only run it for a few minutes at a time, in fear of causing more damage.
Another bit of info: it was making having some sparkly image issues before it quit. Not sure if that is a clue.

Panasonic TC-P50S30 Plasma replaced SC Board
My SC board had a dead short so I got a new one from shopjimmy and installed it. The TV turns on now but there is a nasty white artifact on the right side of the screen. It looks like a ghost but there is some text at the bottom. The entire picture is washed out, not nearly as bright as it used to be. I don't see specs for voltages in the manual, so I'm not sure what to do next. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi folks. I'm new to the forum. Found it searching for info on plasma tv repair. I am not a super electronics wiz, but generally believe that an attempt at repair is a better path than throwing something out and buying a new one.
