check for dry joints on the transistors on the power board . carefully with the back of the set off use an isolated screwdriver and gently pressed on the heatsinks and see if the set powers up.

Samsung 42" plasma . dry joints on trannies .all fixed. ( free to repair)
LG 42" plasma . 9 blown caps plus xsus board ( parts 15 quid ebay )
E systems dual core 17" lappie ( complete including psu . needed reload)
2X 32" lcd samsungs . ( blown caps and one fully working )
All free dump finds.

Hi I have the above plasma which was kept in storage for a year.
When I switched it on it cycles through colours on the display continuously accompanied by a high pitched whine which changes tone with the colours and gets louder the longer I leave the set on. I have no display apart from this . Ive have had a quick look and cannot see anything obvious. Also worth noting that this set worked fine before going into storage.
Please can somebody offer some guidance .

hi the model number is 17pw46-4 . the picture of the board is in the first post and a schematic is a little further down . this is really frustrating me . I have now replaced all of the caps . the 2 large caps I used Panasonic . have checked for bad solders . just to clarify . when I plug the set in I get a blue light on the front . when I switch it on I get a orange light on the front which stays solid . no display or backlight . the buttons on the side beep when pressed but nothing happens and I cannot switch it off from the on/off button. many thanksLeave a comment:
