Did you have a chance to look into this? I think in the manual that it states if there is no error lights then you should replace power supply then main board then LCD Control Unit. Page 6-4 of the manual I have.

Yes PS-ON does go back to 0V after about 15 seconds after pressing the power button to turn off the TV.

I rechecked 14, 17, 23 and 24 and the results were the same....

Okay maybe I have misunderstood the term standby. Here is an updated table. If any readings seem wrong I will double check them for you:

Pin# - Standby (Plugged in but turned off) - Power On (Right after plugging in) - Power On (After 15+ sec) - Description
    01 - 00.00 - 11.99 - 11.98 - PNL12V

Sorry about that. Here is a picture of the printing on the PSU. I don't think these correlate to the order that I tested them in. If you can tell me how the pins are numbered on the connector I can correct my table of values.

Sorry, I just don't know all of the info requested.
I have included a picture of the order in which I tested the pins. I used a needle inserted into the back of each port on the connector and put the ground lead on one of the screws of the cold side of the power supply.

    Pin# - Standby - Power On
    01 - 11.97 - 11.98

Powered on with only the right wide ribbon cable at the bottom of the tcon connected. No backlight. Power button operates normally once the green led on the mainboard starts to flash slowly.

Repeated with only the left ribbon cable. Same result.

Not sure about testing the power supply to mainboard connector. There are 24 leads on this connector. The bottom ones look like they'll be very difficult to get to. Can this be done while the connector is disconnected?

Okay I tried again with a brighter flashlight and pressing the menu button but I'm not seeing anything. The room where the TV is located is very bright so maybe that's interfering.

Also, I tested the 2 450v47uf caps (with the + and - leads on each leg) and they both showed 404v dc

    Thanks for responding.

I tried shining a flashlight on it but I'm not sure if it is bright enough or if I'm just doing it wrong. Anyway I didn't notice any image.

As far as testing the caps, are you referring to the 2 horizontal ones labeled 450v47uf? What DCV would I expect to see? I would just put the negative and positive leads each on one of the cap's legs? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I'm an amateur at this type of work....

I received the replacement main board today.

It did fix the error code but the TV back light is not coming on.

The power button works normally. And if I leave it on for a while (10 min?) it will shut itself off.

Also, the main board has a green LED that flashes slowly.

Is this repair worth pursuing further?

Could the power supply be the problem now?

    Thanks for the responses.

Is there any chance the power supply would be the cause of the error? Or is that unlikely?

I'm looking for a replacement mainboard and I'll purchase a power supply as well if necessary. I'd just like to avoid buying unneeded parts.

I tried BSMK_LE640_222.USB per the service manual instructions. The file I downloaded from Sharp's site was BSMK_LE640_222.UVP

I put both on the USB drive to be sure.

I tried the drive in both USB ports and held power for 5 seconds while plugging the TV in. The display never comes on and I left it for quite a while in case it was updating without the display on.

The TV just keeps flashing the error lights.

    Could I be missing something?...

Okay, thanks for responding. I considered trying to load the firmware. Not even sure if it's possible.

    EDIT:

I put the firmware on a freshly formatted fat32 USB and tried both USB ports. Held power for 5 seconds while plugging in.
    No response....

    Hello.

This TV is giving a 3 long and 1 short error.

    The service manual states:

    Initial communication reception failure

Initial communication from the main CPU is not
received. (Request for the monitor model No. is not
    received.)
Communication line failure or main CPU start-up failure

Is this a main board failure?

I have tried entering the service menu (input and vol- while plugging in) and also the error bypass (vol+ and ch- while plugging in)

The LCD panel does not come on.

  • ViewSonic N3235w - No Power

    Hello Everyone.

Thanks to badcaps.net I've been able to repair a couple of monitors by replacing caps.

I picked this one out of the garbage pile at my work thinking I would find more of the same.

To my surprise, all of the caps look okay. Also, none of them look like CapXon brand.

There is an orange LED lit when you plug in the AC. The power button does nothing. No change in the LCD or the orange LED.

I've looked at the Basic_LCD_TV_trouble_shooting_guide_by_Bud Martin PDF but honestly...

  • Re: Dimmible RGB LED's with Controller Project

    Thanks for the input stj

I'm in no hurry to complete this project so it may be a couple weeks but I will try to report back with my results once I've gotten everything installed.

    EDIT:

I'm still not completely clear if this will work properly if I connect it directly to my 12v illumination circuit. I haven't tested the voltage yet but I know the voltage of the 12v power outlet is nearly 15v.

Would it be a good idea to put a resistor in front of the controller to keep the voltage...

Thank you so much for all of the info.

I didn't realize how many options there were out there!

Maybe I'll just try to get some sort of package deal.

All of these parts seem relatively inexpensive so I don't mind experimenting a little bit.

    Thanks for replying stj.

No, I'm just looking for colored ambient lighting. No special effects of any kind.

I do have a power inverter that I can use instead of connecting this to the car's 12v.

I would rather use the car's illumination circuit if possible though....

  • Re: Dimmible RGB LED's with Controller Project

Thanks so much for the info guys.

I like the idea of the knobs and being able to set the exact color and brightness/intensity of all the LED's together.

I'd really not looking for any motion effects, etc. as that would probably be distracting.

I've put lights in the floorboard of pretty much every vehicle I've owned and I thought why not do this in more of a 21st Century way?

Here is some helpful info that I just found if anyone is interested:

  • Dimmible RGB LED's with Controller Project

    Hello Everyone.

There seems to be many very knowledgeable people on this forum so I thought it might be a good place to present these questions. I have searched around this forum and the web but I have not found relevant information. My ignorance of electronics and electrical circuits is most likely at fault.

    My Goal:

To light the floor boards of my vehicle using Diffused, Dim-able, RGB LED's and to incorporate a controller that allows me to adjust the color and brightness of all of the LED lights together.
