    Hey, everybody

    Just looking for suggestions on what type of soldering iron and desoldering iron I should get, and where I should go to get it, for recapping my motherboard.

  • Well... I've got a few more questions, and I didn't want to create a whole new topic, so I hope you don't mind.

    I've been working with the soldering iron, desoldering iron, and capacitors of a friend, and he's gone away for a bit, and I can't get ahold of him for a while... so I figure I'll just get my own stuff. I just need to know where's the best place to get a few things, and what kind I should get. I never paid much attention to exactly what kind my friend had, although I do know he had a grounded soldering iron and grounded vacuum-powered desoldering iron.

  • Some caps bad, some caps good?

    Hey, everyone--I've got a few questions for you, hopefully you can help me out.

    I got a bunch of free Pentium III motherboards that I can use, with, you guessed it--bad capacitors. However, I'm not too sure about the condition of all of the capacitors... it's odd. Some of them look bad, and some of them don't. I know that, as a precaution, if any cap looks bad, you ought to replace all of the capacitors of the same rating and voltage. So, I'm doing that, but there are capacitors of a different rating that look fine. That's where my problem comes in.
