Re: MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
Hako 936-12 and I also have a Weller 7200 gun I think it's 75 watts. I didn't try the gun. I thought that might ruin the board.

Re: MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
Sorry for taking so long to follow up Toasty. I didn't have any luck with the amp because I couldn't get the old caps off the board. Man they're really on there good.

Re: MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
Well Toasty, I looked at it again today and the cover comes down to within 2mm from touching, 35mm would definitely be too tall.

Re: MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
Now that you mention it...the big caps in the background are 32mm tall so the 35mm caps might be too tall, any other ideas?

Thanks for all the help Toasty, I'm going to order the caps you recommended if everything works out o.k.during the desoldering process (wish me luck).

Re: MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
O.K. Toasty...thanks for the link. How would you guys recommend I hold this board while I'm removing the caps? It has a funny shape since the regulators are sticking out on the sides and the controls on the one end (see the pic).

MTX 801D Amplifier Cap Help
Hello All...this is my first post here and I'm a newbie at cap replacement so please be a little patient with me. This amp was working and now it will not power on. I removed the cover and noticed some of the caps are bulging and the two bigger ones in the picture have flaking skins and tops (no bulging) but other than that they look o.k. with a visual inspection by me. I would like to ask you guys what caps to use to replace the smaller caps and should I replace the two big ones? I can't seem to find an exact replacement for the six smaller ones, they are Nichicon ZA stamped on the side 470uf63v....
