Re: TCL Black screen
Hello, Thanks for answering,
Those 3 pics are the ones of the bounding board connected to the side of the T-CON with the bad image. I just split them in 3 so the image will not get too blurry when zooming in (to look but an obvious damaged capacitor). Attached is the picture of the hole thing. In this case, is the side with the ribbon cable I marked as "1"....

Re: TCL Black screen
Hello Guys,
I was really hoping to open it up, and find something obviously wrong, but it seems normal to me. Unfortunately, my cheap multimeter from Harbor Freight does not have the function for the continuity with the beep, I'll get a better one, honestly it's long overdue.
That being said, what I tried to do as a test (please tell me if it was a bad idea), was putting the ground lead to a ground on the board, with the tv connected and on, and measure voltage at all the capacitors. Voltages did vary among the capacitors, but...

TCL Black screen
Hello there!
I need help troubleshooting a TCL model 55FS3750. What I'm getting when I turn it on is just a black screen. These are the things I have done so far:
1) I removed the back cover, and I can see the while light through the holes, so I think I have back light.
2) If Im standing behind the TV, and I remove the left cable of the T-Con board, that half (left side) of the screen turns while, and the other half (right) displays good image.
3) If I do exactly what I did on point 2, but on the other side of the T-Con card, the...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi there,
Not exactly new, I opened the account a while back, but this is my second time here. Same problem, different TVs
I'm big on DIY, driven by constant disappointment when I've paid professionals to do things I ended have having to do over myself. I'm confortable disassembling things apart, replacing components and put it back together.

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
I'm out of town, but I'll collect the voltages when I get back and post for you guys. Regarding the IC, I bought it from eBay at the link bellow. I probably would try a US seller though, it took about 15 days to get it.
Look at this on eBay:

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
Well.. It wasn't easy, and it certainly does not look as clean as I would've liked it, but it worked!! I got my TV back!
Thank you so much guys!!, I never could have done it without your wisdom.

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
one more question.... is it really vital to solder the underneath? How do I do that with the regular solder?

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
you know?... I was thinking about that last night, if the leg goes to a particular component, I could run a wire to it.I'll give it a try.
Thanks!

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
Guys,
Just to wrap up my case... I finally had the chance today to try get the IC off the board using a heat gun, but I'm afraid it didn't go well. It did came off at the end, but I damaged 3 pads, and that pretty much is the end of it. It DOES have a pad under it, and is a real PITA to melt. I think it needs to be done simultaneously heating from underneath.
My only way out will be getting another T-con since I messed up this one

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
that takes me back to the work bench then...I'll go back to try to get the chip off the original board. After all I have already the new chip here.
Thanks Tom,

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
they sure did... with "100% money back" if something was wrong, but I still gotta pay the shipping back though. I was wondering, could it be something on my TV that is making Tcons go bad?

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
So.... Bad news.. Before I could succeed getting the IC of the broad, I got a Tcon replacement, and I put it in, but the TV still looks like crap. Unless the Tcon replacement is messed up exactly in the same way mine was, I think it could be something else. Any ideas?

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
ohh boy...I have a heat gun, but I'm not sure is appropriate for electronics, I might heat up a few inches around the IC and probably overheat other components. I'll browse around and see if I can find a T-con. shopjimmy.com doesn't have it for now.
Thanks Tom!

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem
Hi guys,
I received my IC yesterday, but I'm afraid removing the old one is not going well...I bought that chip quick removal kit, but the IC didn't move. So, as careful as I could, I use the fine tip of my iron to disorder and lift up every leg of the IC, I think I damaged one or 2 pads. Anyway...even with all 48 legs totally off the board, it still does not come off. How do you remove those things??
At this point I'm probably going to have to just buy the T-con itself, right?
