    Re: IBM pc8394 tools

    Thank you very much for your guidance

    Just read the instructions now and must admit that I had not seen it as a dos program!
    I usually use PonyProg or similar.

    Will now try to read data from T43.

    Re: IBM pc8394 tools

    Hello badcaps!

    Questions relating to the removal of the password on my IBM T43.

    I have built a modem with max 232 as shown and downloaded the necessary software

    How to understand when the manual says :

    Keep the probes firmly connected to the board marks while you execute the reader: rpc8394.exe filename.bin, where filename.bin is the file where data is be stored.

    Does that mean that you just start the program file rpc8394.exe?

    Is the program then managing the modem, giving the file...

    I have measured the voltages at the test points as you described with a Fluke multimeter.

    Result is:

    TP37 = 1.79 v
    TP62 = 0.00
    TP119 = 1.54 v
    TP191 = 1.78 v
    Ref ground2

    I have no sense of what the correct voltage should be?

    I do not know what capacitor you think I should measure on!

    Will you help me to show the condenser on the diagram of the CPU?

    Thank you for your interest and suggestions.

    I will try them all today or tomorrow and then returns with my test results.

    Thanks for the advice

    Atsio :

    I want to perform voltage measurements on the MB with the power on !
    I have a MB diagram for the Laptop which I attach.

    Tomodachi :

    For flashing a new BIOS to RAM circuit I am a little unsure about what the risk is, and is it possible to repeat the operation when an error occurs or is it just a one shot ?
    I have found instructions on Packard Bell service manual for TJ75 Series .
    I will flash the BIOS as a last try,...

    Hello Lefos

    I do not understand exactly what you mean about the CPU!

    The error on the laptop came when it was switched off after use. When you next time about 24 hours later will turn it on is not possible and the above error occurs.

    I've googled a bit, since I do not understand that there is no indication of POST error!

    Could it be because the BIOS has been damaged?

    I have found a Service Manual for EasyNote TJ75 (not TJ72) from Packard Bell. This describes the...

  • Packard Bell EasyNote TJ72 "black screen"

    Hello Bad Caps

    Seeking possible help to resolve problems with a Packard Bell laptop

    type:

    EasyNote TJ72-RB-909NC MS2285
    Date: KS 091203
    SNID: 94972339722
    Serial no: LXBFL02004949C52200

    The problem is black screen and lack of CPU operation:

    When starting the Laptop the following happens:

    Battery indicator is illuminated.
    CD drive is activated shortly.
    CPU cooler starts at high speed and then goes to low speed where it will be running until the CPU gets hot and require more...

  • Re: Periodically problems in PSU type: Antec SP350 P

    Thank you to all for the feedbacks.

    I am very surprised at the quick and useful response.

    With regard to change all the capacitors, I acknowledge that it may be necessary.

    For ripple voltage level, I have had an oscilloscope in order to control and it showed very small and acceptable levels of ripple.

    I have changed the 330mikro capacitor, but still have the problem on the -12v supply.
    Subsequently, I found that the -12v supply is not used in the computer as there is...

  • Re: Periodically problems in PSU type: Antec SP350 P

    Thank you for response.

    I don’t understand why you will change all the electrolytic capacitors!

    As I wrote, the supply voltage: -5v, +5v, +3,3v, +12v, st.by 5v are measured to be very fine. The values are in the centre of the specifications, you have +-5% safety. All measuring on running computer!

    It’s only the -12v that gives the periodically problem and shut down the PSU (pin 8 goes low) when the -12v degrease to -11,40v equal to (-12v -5% = -11,40v).
    Specification: -12v...

  • Periodically problems in PSU type: Antec SP350 P

    Hello I have some periodically problems in my old PSU type: Antec SP350 P

    I have made following measuring on the PSU when it's operating the computer.

    All the results of voltage measuring are placed in the centre of the specification except the – 12 volt.

    The -12volt are measured to -11,45volt some times little higher -11,55volt.

    In the Specification for SP350 P following detail is shown: -12volt +-5% (-11,40 – 12,60)

    I have observed that the Power good signal pin 8 some time changes to 0 and the CPU stop running....
