    What is a dry joint?

I fixed one monitor I had called hanspree 28 inch 3ms gaming monitor and it still works to this day. So I know how to solder. I just dont get what you meay by dry joint? Does this mean that though the solder was administered it did not join properly to all areas of the joint?...

I ordered a new PSU and I will see if it fixes the issue and will post back to update this thread so at least it is useful in some way as there are no other posts for this model number on the forum.

Do you think its just possible this guy, when pulling the back off, pulled on the AC input jack and bent it a bit?

I mean, between those two choices in eBay one has three pins connected and a straight AC jack and the other has two pins connected and a bent AC jack.

    lol

What a choice. I suppose I could spend a bit more money

Edit: I have looked at a seller on eBay who has a lot of these boards and some of them have two and some three. I suppose it...

Below are all my board. I tried two different lighting types in case it didnt show up well and figured I would supply a full picture of the PSU.

Figured I would just post the problem here because once I took the back cover off the problem became very apparent.

I think it is very obvious the PSU is bad. Usually it isn't this obvious.

    So my question would be.

I have saw this board here.......

Have you figured this problem out?

I have this TV and I have a solid red light on at all times as soon as you plug it in and no picture. Remote does nothing.

    What should I do?

    Thanks

    Re: Lg 42ld520

    Thanks RJ

I still have the same issue but as long as the TV stays on it is fine and the screen shows fine.

But now I have another problem.... whenever I am watching videos the power on the monitor just goes off for about 2 seconds and then comes back on and plays again only to do it again.

It does it for hours and then stops and goes days without doing it only to start happening again.

Does anyone have any idea about this LCD TV?

  • Re: Hannspree HF257 w/bad backlight

    Hello,

I have this monitor and have had it since 2009.

My brother was complaining for a good while that he had to turn it off and back on again. I didn't believe it was the monitor but I was obviously wrong.

Because now it has the 2sec2black issue.

I heard someone ask a question on another thread like, " Did you shine a flash light on it?"

I wasn't sure if they meant directly into the front of it. But if so, Yes I did that and didn't see any image after it...

  • Re: Hanns-G HG281D, LCD Monitor no power

Sorry to Hijack this thread once more but I got some really good help in this thread.

I have a Dell 24 inch monitor that has a what at first seems one vertical line on the right side about 3 or 4 inches in from the edge. But upon further inspection it seems to be a color line like 3 colors possibly. It is only the one 3 color line. the rest of the monitor works perfectly

Does anyone know what causes this? I mean, Which part needs fixing, Tconn, PSU or Mainboard? OR is it something else? Can I just change...

  • Dell 2407WFPb One vertical line on right side

    Hello,

I am wondering why I cant start a thread in the Dell 2407WFPb section but oh well. There isn't anything over there about this issue.

My Monitor has a line on the right hand side of the screen about 3 inches from the edge and its about a 16th or 32nd of an inch thick approx.

Does anyone know what causes this and how can I fix it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    After running all day,
I had my brother play a game for a few hours, let it run some more, then checked all the inputs and speaker inputs as well to make sure everything is functioning.

I suppose I have a totally refurbished monitor now because it works flawlessly!

I always thought this monitor has a great picture and looks like an LED because of its ultra brightness. I also love the 16:10 Aspect ratio and 1200 resolution. Seems like it has more real estate than a 28" 16:9...

    Lg 42ld520

    Hello,

My TV is fine once it heats up. But it has an issue that was a horizontal one fifth of the bottom of the screen at first. Then when I left it off for a week when I turned it back on the same issue was 98 percent of the screen with a little strip at the top where I could see my Computer Mouse move.

I use my TV for a monitor and it has been mostly on for 3 and a half years.

The lines actually go vertical inside of a horizontal problem.

That bad percentage part of the screen becomes unresponsive while the good percentage...

    Thanks!

I alcohol bathed the board. Was a bit scary but 91% has a pretty fast evap time.

It has been running for 3 hours now straight without issue. It wouldn't go 45 minutes before being recapped.

Also the power button was pushed on and off about 30 times and not one mishap! I couldn't push it 3 times before the recap without it not working and needing to be pushed a bunch of times to get it to come on.

Seems fixed. But I still want to give it a day of full run time and have...

Another HannsG 28" Monitor saved from the trash heap!

I have got to say this forum is a great need for me.

I come across broken monitors all the time.

I popped two pads after removing 6 caps on the PSU board and was able to repair them using cap wires with a little help from this forum. Manipulating them in place without a magnifying lens in bad light with bad eyes was a bit tough but I managed.

So far the power button issue is gone and the fact that it even came on is absolutely...

  • Re: Did I ruin this?

    I actually was correct. ODDLY!
I put it all back together and so far so good!
After changing 23 Capacitors (2 of which were on the mainboard) the monitor powered on and the power button issue is gone. I am now waiting to see if the snowing after 45 minute issue and the black out flashes stop too.

    Thanks!
