  • Re: Phillips 32PFL4507/F7B humming sound, no power

Thanks, that was a helpful video. I'm not sure if that's a good rule of thumb to use capacitors of the same size without knowing the value, but I did find one of similar size so I decided to try.

For those who are looking for a solution, BIG THANKS to CraigR on this post which pointed to the shorted capacitors on the mainboard (see below his post).

In my case, C3105 was the faulty capacitors whereas the other two were fine (I guess they're in paralllel. Once I replaced the faulty one, the tv is working...

I'm trying to fix the same issue on the same board, my fuse didn't blow but I have a whinning noise coming from the powerboard when the mainboard is connected (no noise when not connected). I suspect the mainboard but not sure what the values of the caps are.

do you know what the values for the 3 capacitors are?

thanks for any help you can provide....

  • Phillips 32PFL4507/F7B humming sound, no power

    Hi

Im trying to fix this Phillips 32" led tv, 32PFL4507/F7B. There is a humming sound when the power plug is connected. The humming goes away when I disconnect the cable from the powerboard to the mainboard. The humming seems to be around the mosfet/330uf capacitor area of the powerboard.

I have taken out the mosfet and tested it with a DMM and it seems to be fine. I also checked the voltages going to the mainboard and they're totally off. I'm not getting 3.3v standby (no light at the front), where it is supposed to be 24v, i'm getting 2.3v, and where it is supposed...

  • Re: Sharp 70 led t - LC-70UD27U - 2-5 error

Well, I decided to take the chance and follow the instructions that "simplemark1" wrote up on one of the other threads (see his instructions below). Now, I have a functional tv!! Although the screen is not perfect (there is a dark spot on the upper right of the screen and distortion on the left 1/4 section of the tv which had the problem - mostly seem in darker scenes), I'm happy that this tv is not heading to the landfill!
The picture, watching brighter images is good enough! (great for watching football)!

  • Re: Sharp 70 led t - LC-70UD27U - 2-5 error

I finally got around to work on the tv again. So I took out the "U" cable from the bottom edge of the tv. Once that was disconnected, there was no error code (with all tcon cables connected). I was able to turn on the tv (didn't check the image but I assume 3/4 of the tv has image.

Can anyone confirm that the issue are the 8 panel tabs on the side edge of the panel that needs to be removed?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    thanks

  • Re: Sharp 70 led tv - LC-70UD27U - 2-5 error

This is the best I can do, as I have not taken out the side bezels. From what I understand from reading other threads on this issue; the problem is the side panel drivers for the led, which have shorted in one way or another.

I am leaning towards a solution where the 8 side tabs are taken off from the panel. However, I don't quite understand how, by taking them off from the panel, and disconnecting these 8 tabs from the side of the panel, will actually make it work?!?!

    let me know...

    Hi

I started a new thread on this tv, but would it be possible to provide more detail in regards to removing the 8 side tabs on this particular tv? Pictures would be much appreciated.

    thanks

  • Sharp 70 led t - LC-70UD27U - 2-5 error

    Hi

I've read several similar posts in regards to sharp tv's showing this error (2 long, 5 short). Many lean towards faulty, tcon, driver or the actual panel.

This is what I have tested so far and i'm leaning towards a bad tcon (please let me know if that's the case). I have 4 cables from the tcon connecting to the panel. If I remove the 3rd one (looking from the back, counting left to right), the error goes away and the tv turns on (with white on the left side and displaying on the right side, although the picture i'm posting just shows back).

    Any...

  • Re: Dynex DX-46L150A11 backlight/inverter problem?

It is good to know. As this is a tv that will only be used sparingly, i'll keep my eye for the issue and make sure it is not left unattended.

    Thanks for the feedback....

well, i decided to take a chance and solder in a 120ohm resistor (as per the video). It worked! The screen stays on now (even though there is a darker line where the bulb is burnt). It is not very noticeable when watching tv, only noticeable on a blank screen.

For the price of the resistor, this is great to keep my tv alive!

    Hopefully, this helps someone else.

yes, I'm aware of post #29 (I thought you were as well). Nonetheless, thanks for giving me some inputs.

I'm still wondering if I ground that pin with a resistor, whether it will work. I tried grounding the pin without a resistor and there was no change to the tv.

can anyone tell me if that's 12ohm or 120 ohm?

Again, the resistor color is found at 2:23 min of this video below:

  • Re: Dynex DX-46L150A11 backlight/inverter problem?

Maybe there is something else going on. As soon as I take out one transformer, the tv turns on for a second and then the backlight goes out. Whereas, when all the transformers are on the board, i get about 2-5 minutes.

It doesn't matter which of the 12 transformers I take out, the backlight will go off in 1 sec (i've tried 3 of them already).

Do i need to jump some wires so as to bypass the transformer i took out?...

  • Re: Dynex DX-46L150A11 backlight/inverter problem?

Okay, i actually ordered another inverter board, but unfortunately, it arrived cracked. Initially, I thought I could use the transformer from the cracked board on my board, but it turns out that the board versions are difference (I assume they are still compatible), so the transformers are actually different as well (see pic). I am wondering if anyone know whether I can still swap the transformers, making sure that the 'proper' connections are made to the board.

I also tried jumping the timer pin to ground, but it didn't...

    Hi

could I know how you 'fixed' it? Was it using the resistor suggestion on the youtube video or another way? I want to confirm if the resistor is 120ohm or 12ohm. thanks...

I believe it is either the 3rd or 4th one from the bottom (very similar to what the guy had on the youtube video)....

  • Re: Dynex DX-46L150A11 backlight/inverter problem?

I know this is an old thread but i found a guy on youtube who installed a resistor to bypass a bad bulb (2:15 min into the video). However, I am not sure of the resistor value (brown, red, black - i'm assuming it is 120ohm, can anyone confirm)? Also, he mentioned that he moved the bulb from the middle to the bottom; how difficult is it to do that?

    thanks.

  • Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.

So I took the chance that the tcon would repair this tv that I picked up for free. i got the tcon and installed it but now I have an issue with the screen where the left side of the screen does not display properly. I am wondering if it is a bad connection to the cable or do you think the panel is gone? I have played around with the cable connection to the tcon but it doesn't seem to do much.

    Any ideas?

I took off ic201 and the pads are not shorted.

I'm wondering if anyone has any input as there is a ic on the backside that control the power (ic200, part number THINE THV3056). Shop jimmy is selling a repair kit that has this ic, plus ic201 and the fuse.

    Could this be the solution?

Does it anyone have any updates on how to repair the no voltage in the ic201? I have 12v on both sides of the fuse as well as voltages on the 2 caps closest to the fuse, BUT no voltage in all the rest of the caps.

Any suggestions as to where I can check?...
