Re: Samsung D5520 LED - black horizontal bar on screen. Troubleshooting help needed.
Hi again. Since last time I have bought a new T-CON board, installed it and tested and the picture is still the same.
I had the metal frame off and noticed that the tabs are built into the LCD panel, so if these are bad I guess it's not worth trying to fix due to cost? The T-CON board also connects to two buffer boards at the bottom of the screen, and if one of these has failed it's also pointless trying to fix as these have tabs built into them which also feed directly into the...

Re: Samsung D5520 LED - black horizontal bar on screen. Troubleshooting help needed.
I'd have been livid if I paid cash for it, as then I wouldn't have had any route to go down. I think we had paid a bit of the finance off, but the majoirty of it was cleared which was better than nothing.
Not sure how I will get into the metal case, the screws are "screwed"! Sure I have a drill somewhere...

hey there,
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess the next step is getting the metal frame off to check the tabs
The TV was 18 months old when it failed. We tried at least 3 or 4 times with Samsung and they didn't want to know as it was out of the 12 month warranty. It was bought on finance and we got this cleared under the sales of goods act. We were left with a broken TV, but at least we weren't paying for it....Last edited by jpmad4it; 03-10-2014, 10:20 AM.

Samsung D5520 LED - black horizontal bar on screen. Troubleshooting help needed.
Hi all,
My first post!!
So I've been trying to troubleshoot my faulty Samsung D5520 LED 40" today. The issue I have is a constant black horizontal bar across the top of the screen. I think I narrowed it down to the T-CON board, the master or slave panel which connect to the T-CON board, the bonding of the 'tabs' under the metal frame or the LED panel itself. I couldn't get into the metal frame to test the bonding on the "tabs" as the screws holding in place wouldn't come out. They are soooo soft they just perished when I tried to get them out!...
