Re: Dead wireless on HP Pavilion G6-1325ea
Haha yes first thing i checked. The card is not in device manager and the wireless activation switch is refusing to budge because as far as its concerned there is no wireless card in the laptop. have booted into other live OS's and it is the same story. Definitely not a software issue IMO.

Dead wireless on HP Pavilion G6-1325ea
Hi all
Have a problem with a HP Pavilion G6-1325ea just over a year old and just out of warranty (of course). The wireless has suddenly died and all traces of the wireless card have disappeared in windows as if the hardware doesn't exist. Checked that it is definitely not an OS problem and ruled out the wireless mini pci card which is working in another laptop. No bent pins or dirty sockets etc. Upon investigating the mini pci slot you can hear a little tone changing pitch. I have run through the area and checked all the caps they are reading a correct voltage not sure what else...

Re: What is this please?
I've tested all the capacitors in the suspect area and all are reading a voltage ok, guessing it could be something else. Will head over to the laptop section and post for any ideas in there. Thanks for your input

Re: What is this please?
Ok just measured it on the working laptop. It has the same markings on the cap as the other one (pictured in first post). It's measuring as 12V!? is this right if it's to be a 10v cap?

Re: What is this please?
Its a HP Pavilion G6-1325ea
Didn't think to measure across my working laptop. My working one is a slightly different model being a quad core rather than a dual core so not sure if it will be a different rating? Will strip my other one and investigate further I guess (lucky it's out of warranty). I was guessing 10V but wondered why it has 100 written instead of 10 if that was the case didn't want to just guess thought I would seek some people with somewhat more knowledge than me!

What is this please?
Hi all
I'm an amateur cap replacer and need some help to identify a capacitor on a laptop of mine.
It's next to the wireless mini pci card and is chirping and buzzing etc. I have another laptop of the same model and it doesn't make a sound on the other one. The wireless on the laptop has stopped working recently so it all points to this as the cause. I Haven't had much experience of surface mount capacitors only the easy radial ones not too sure what the rating of it is and have searched net quite thoroughly and can't find one with similar numbers so i'm assuming...Last edited by glenn2109; 02-27-2014, 04:23 AM.
