  • Re: Philips 32PF7320A/37 won't turn on, 7 blinks

Well, I ended up replacing the power board because it looks like I damaged the board when replacing one of the caps, but I still have the exact same problem. Voltages are still the same also.

    Thanks, Mr Bill

    yes, it is MC34067P.

With board isolated, pin 4 to pin 15 is open.

With board installed, pin 15 to chassis gnd is 20v, while LED blinks 7x.
When power applied, pin 15 to pin 4 is 15v, which drops slowly to 1.5v after shutdown.

  • Philips 32PF7320A/37 won't turn on, 7 blinks

    Hi

I've got this Philips 32PF7320A/37 TV that was given to me. When the power cord is plugged in, nothing happens for about five seconds then I hear a click and the power light starts blinking 7 times repeatedly. I have been unable to find out what that blink code is for this model.

I looked at the boards but see no caps that look bad. I replaced all the caps on the power board with Nichicon caps...no joy.

The "click" I hear when plugging it in comes from the component circled in pic 1, and I have tested the 2 fuses indicated in pic 1, they...

Thanks. I missed that thread. I'll check it out.

  • Samsung Syncmaster F2080 on for 5 sec

    Hi,

I have a Samsung Syncmaster F2080 monitor that powers on for about 5 seconds and then shuts off. I have replaced all the capacitors on the power supply board...at least all the "can" caps, and it still does the exact same thing. I used Nichicon caps for all of them. None of the ceramic disk caps look burnt (like I had on a Vizio LP2626 recently).

Does anyone have an familiarity with this monitor/board? It still seems like a capacitor problem, to my minimally-knowing brain. Can the disk caps be bad without being burnt? Pics are attached.

The dark spot (overheated?) on the board in photo 2 of the orig. post corresponds with component U4 (regulator?) on the other side of the board, photo 1. I have the same board with the same dark spot and my U4 looks like it overheated (not uniform in color). I also have some failed/bulging capacitors on the power board. I am thinking I'll replace the logic board also.

Now if I can find one. Nothing on ebay.

  • Re: Hanns-G hg281d bright band

I just love an intermittent problem, especially when I barely have time to get my leads in place and the problem goes away.

    U7 has 3.28v in, 1.53 out
    U8 has 1.77v in, 1.49 out
    U404 has 4.60 in, 3.31 out
    U406 has 3.30 in, 1.79 out

None of these values changes when the display has the bright band.

I'm not sure how to test U200. Man, that thing is tiny.

I might see if I can redo some of the more blemished solder points on the back of the signal board.

  • Re: Hanns-G hg281d bright band

I had to wait quite a while because after reassembly, the problem didn't start happening for about 1 hour, then started flickering (only the bright band) and showing lines, then would go away for up to an hour.

Probably closer to the latter, or just trying to act like he knew something, tossing around component names.

I've attached photos of all the boards except the inverter board...and it may show the problem. I hadn't looked at the flip side of the board with the input jacks. It looks like lots of corrosion(?)...none...

  • Hanns-G hg281d bright band

    hi-

I have a 28" HannsG hg281d LCD monitor that works fine for the first 5 minutes of operation. Then it starts showing the bottom third of the display as a brighter band. The image is still visible, no wavy at all, just brighter. It will stay like this until shut off.

It will do it using HDMI or D-sub and I have tried known good cables and 3 different computers and it always does it.

I don't think it is the caps or backlight bulbs, in my limited experience. Someone mentioned the horizontal transistor or flyback transistor. Does this sound reasonable?...

  • Re: Acer AL2416W sd black screen after "ACER"

I ended up replacing the 8 small 35v, 100uf caps on the inverter board. Everything has been working fine since then. 30+ start-ups, from cold start to immediate reboot. Monitor works as advertised every time.

Thanks for all your help and input.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Al. There are six connectors, so I believe it has 6 CCFLs.

I have 0v with monitor off and ~3v when powered on.

When I plugged in the connector, I was barely touching the pins to each other. I don't think there was enough force to flex anything. But I did check that anyway. Flexing and wiggling did nothing to indicate any fault there....

Thanks for the warning! But since I DID check it, while it wasn't backlit, and had no voltage (and my meter still works) that tells me the problem is before the bulbs.

Has anyone found a source for this inverter board? I cannot find one anywhere I've looked. I contacted Acer and the sources they suggested told me it would be very hard to find one....

    @PlainBill:

I found a schematic/pin-out diagram for the monitor. I have 3v on the BL ON/OFF wire on the inverter. I also have no voltage at the bulb connectors.

    @jetadm123:

Would any old CCFL tube do? I could yard one out of a different monitor I've got lying around.

  • Re: Acer AL2416W sd black screen after "ACER"

Premature celebration, something is still not right.

If the monitor sits for a few hours and I restart it, there is no backlighting...only a dim image by flashlight. There is 24 volts to the inverter board, all fuses on the inv. board are good. Haven't tested the MOSFETs yet...

At some point in my head-scratching, I forgot the monitor was still on and I disconnected the connector off the power board that goes to the inverter (the one I thought was soft set before). When I reconnected it, there...

A thousand apologies...and a hearty thank you. I found that I had left the connector to the inverter board soft set. Fully seated now...and back to life.

Again thank you for your time.

  • Acer AL2416W sd black screen after "ACER"

This is my first post, after having learned (or tried to learn) much from you all. Truly a great resource and community.

I am trying to repair an Acer AL2416w sd that would start up, show the word "ACER" then a black screen and the power light would change from green to yellow. I had no dim image using a flashlight. None of the caps on the 3 boards are domed or "look" bad.

I followed the other threads about this monitor, and decided that, even though there was no visual evidence of failure, I would replace the caps on the power board. Lo and behold,...
