  • Re: Hitachi L40A105A Bad Picture

Photos of the integrated T-Con are shown. I have one shot that has the entire strip and three close-up shots of the Left, Center, and Right sections that can be pasted together for the whole thing if needed.

No amount of wiggling the flexboard connectors or the mainboard connector produce any change in the picture, either good or bad. I also used a heat gun up and down the T-Con board and the screen edges (VERY gentle heat) and also saw no changes.

Am I correct in assuming that the T-Con cannot be replaced without replacing...

Capacitor is not bulging. Optical delusion!

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Hitachi L40A105A Bad Picture

I have a Hitachi L40A105A with a bad picture. My bet is the mainboard but I don't want to invest the $ in a new one (if I can find one) without some input from the experts.

I have photos of the power supply and mainboard as well as the powered up TV with and without an HDMI signal. I did not take photos of the inverter boards since the backlight seems to be ok. I can provide those if necessary.

If I leave the unit running for a while the picture will sometimes come in clearly for about 30 minutes or so.

Soldering is not a problem for me if necessar...

  • LG W2452T Monitor with Lines Across Bottom of Display

I have an LG W2452T with lines across the bottom of display. When I tap on the display the lines go away and will slowly begin to reappear (within a few seconds, start to finish) after tapping.

    Ideas? Thanks in advance....

  • Re: Sony KDL-40SL140 way too bright

I replaced the AS15 chip on the "new" TCON board that I bought and that seems to have done the trick. Colors are still a little bit off but I think that can be fixed with proper adjustments.

So. Fixed. Bad TCON board as was the original diagnosis.

I tried to take a little video with my phone but naturally the TV is playing just fine right now. Maybe later...

Adjusting the usual options doesn't seem to help much. I can get it close to something resembling a decent picture but it just returns to the "super bright" display after a few minutes.

Also, I wiggled cables and TCON ribbon cables, as well as used a heat gun around the edge of the screen to look for bonding issues but I was never able to find anything.

    Ok, stay with me:

    1. originally had solarized picture and so I replaced the TCON board.
    2. After replacement I got nothing but a blank screen. Backlight was on but that was all.
    3. after much searching and probing I found an open fuse on the mainboard that I must have popped somehow.
    4. Replaced fuse and all functionality returned EXCEPT the screen is now really bright. Not like I have a supercharged backlight but more like the brightness is turned all the way up (which it isn't). Picture is not solarized like before TCON replacement, just too bright.

  • Re: Factory Resets Listing

Have a Sony Bravia KDL-40SL140 with no remote. According to service manual I should (using the remote) enter

    DISPLAY 5 volume + POWER

to enter service mode. Since I have only a systemlink 3 universal remote (no DISPLAY key) does anyone know a way to enter service mode without a remote (or with universal remote)?

    Thanks in advance.
