I know it is an old machine but i had it laying around from back in the day when the power jack got broke.

So i figured one day i would tear it down and try to repair it and that day was today.

What i did was checked power to the dc jack of where it was getting power to the jack but not to the mobo so i de soldered the jack from the board and replaced it.

After replacing the jack i performed a bench test when i had put the mobo back inside the case but not completely together and what i have is led lights powering up for one second and then off with...

I seek some assistance for a sx270 that i recapped.

I am currently using the machine right now to type this so i have had luck on getting it going as it had nothing to start with.

The issue is when the pc powers itself down upon automatic command from a driver or software install the display video feed is lost and will not restore itself.

The only work around is to repower it down by holding the power button and then doing a power up from off.

It seems that these sx270/80 models have a bad GA'HUGE problem with the caps but what i have observed is that most condone the unit standing on edge and i gotta tell you i think that is a bad idea for these paticular units.

These units (when stood on edge) are starving for air supply and the machine can't get air with the vent covered.

Even if you google the reviews or look anywhere you see a picture of one, they profile it standing on edge but that bottom edge is where the fans and vent is and it...

Is it possible to use a DVOM on caps?

If so what values are good vs's bad?

Oh.. I'm new to the board but not new to recap mobo's however i usually just replace the leaking and swelled ones and let the others go which is why i was wondering if DVOM would work...

I usually do mostly DELL and have good experiance with gx150, gx260/270 and am now getting alot of crappy sx270's &80's which are almost like a laptop.

Anyways, it is nice to have a board on the net where i can go consult others cause i thought i was the only moron doing these...
