Re: 32lm3400 dead no standby
going to have to look deeper into this, i havent got 3.5vdc anymore and i measured theb.rectifier and got 120v,110v and no dc volt readings. 120 and 110v are there about, they were few more volts to be exact

Re: 32lm3400 dead no standby
rectifier reads ok.there is a area ON BACK BOARD NEAR WHERE THE CONNECTOR plugs to take power to main board. There is a selection of surface mounts that look suspect. not burnt but just look dirty .ic202, r205, q201?not sure thats correct last number.
the ic and the q201 look identical and wouldnt of known they were differant unless board told me so.

Re: 32lm3400 dead no standby
ill look into it today but from what i remember, i have both 3.5vdc lines. Which go over to main board also.
The fuse is intact and i have 240vac in.
No standby light,
Ill have to check the rectifier.

Re: Harman Kardon 395 Sub Woofer & Satalite speakers
I will remove glues but Why??
The 2 poly caps closest to the heat sink were stuck together. I pulled apart to check whether they were leaking or were actually glued!
So my question ....Why glue these 2 and not other components? Whats the reason for all this glue, because it doesnt seem to be helping in any way?

Re: Harman Kardon 395 Sub Woofer & Satalite speakers
Removed the pots.
The volume pot was clean but when i pulled back the metal tabs holding it together i noticed very small pieces of the plastic body cracked off.
This broken part would of held it secure in its metal enclosure, which is why there was so much interference.
Anyway i havnt got replacements and its Sunday so i stripped, cleaned and put them both back together, then swapped the dodgy one for the treble pot which doesnt get any use.
Works much better, although at very high volume a problem...

Harman Kardon 395 Sub Woofer & Satalite speakers
I ve noticed a change in the quality of sound from my Hk 395 speakers.
The 2 satalite speakers seem fine, its the sub woofer i thinks to blame?
When turning the woofer volume pot there's a lot of distortion / crackling.
Also this week, when i was watching a movie there was also heavy distortion on the lower bass sounds, with a lot of vibration.
I noticed taking the back off the speaker seemed to ease the unwanted noise, and then i noticed a couple of caps i wasnt happy with!
I tested these with a multimeter as i hav'nt got a esr meter. My readings...
