  • Re: Converting 12v smps in to 15v

Thank you guys for you suggestions.
As mr. Selldoor suggested there are adapters available on ebay worth buying. I already have an adjustable laptop adapter and a spare 19v adapter. One primary concern with this adapters are that they are mostly size - 7in x 3in or so.. and the unit is almost 1mtr away from the plug point and I may have to drag the unit sometimes. But with 12v/2amp etc it is like traditional adapters or like mobile chargers with everything in a box right behind the plug point, no concerns and only 1 or 2 meters wire to connect....

  • Converting 12v smps in to 15v

For my new application I need a 15v/1amp supply. The place where I live I cant find one. What I found was a 12v/2amp supply.

This 12v one is with a TL431 on secondary. What I am trying to do is to convert this in to 15v(1amp). No intention to use more than 1amp but will be happy if I can get up to 1.5amp. Capacitors on the output side are rated 16v , I may have to change it

    I have a few questions.

suppose normally if without TL431, if I change the secondary turns ratio to increase (or decrease) output to 15v(1amp). 12v/2amp is 24wats against 15v/1amp...

  • Re: Identifying the Diode

Great, It was..... 12v.. I Replaced it a with a new one and it worked. I had no smd so I cut and folded the leads of a non smd zener and soldered , it is working.

Mostly when I see SMD based circuits and wonder "How on earth do I find what is what".
There are you guys with good knowledge and experience.

But the display is not looking good , few pixels missing. I may have to clean the ribbon.

  • Re: Replacment of Transistor 3003

I had few so called chargers which I was able to repair changing 13001 or 2.2ohm resistor etc.
I have this genuine nokia charger which if possible I wish to repair and use (It is difficult to throw away this plastic garbage)

  • Replacment of Transistor 3003

    I have a damaged nokia charger ACP-12E.
I found a 3003 transistor short. I cant find it here. can I use MJE13001 with pins corrected. Is there a common replacement available.
I have few damaged chargers here. I think I better not buy anymore.

  • Re: Identifying the Diode

I bought this stuff 2 years before on ebay.in. The current link to the item <http://www.ebay.in/itm/ENERGY-METER-ELECTRICTY-CONSUMPTION-METER-VOLT-WATTS-KWH-/190772664843?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item2c6aefda0b>
The price has gone up by 50%. I am not very good with smd but it is ok.
Acutally what happened when the house power consumption went up by a large margin i bought this and connected this to check and it helped me a lot and on one day I was trying to check a power saver and because its pin was loose, power fluctuated and...

  • Identifying the Diode

Given below is the picture of an Ammeter/Wattmeter I was using.
One day during one power fluctuation it stopped working.
Can anyone identify the diode, it appears to be short.
Is it an inductor or a resistor next to it?...

  • Re: Toshiba Satellite - Locks up when plugged in

I was going thru this topic.
I got two questions to ask.
    1. Is it necessary to remove the processor when doing the CAP replacement?
    2. When talking about ESR, what could be the biggest problem you may have to face,
if Esr not matching (impact of replacing capacitor with high esr) , - system restarting over and over, do not turn on at all or damage the system beyond repair.

    help.
