OK thanks, only just seen this, I should have subscribed to the thread
It is massive, I'll go check out the preferred hosting that others are using and upload and share.

• Re: Help Diagnosing Backlight Voltages (JVC LT-50C550)

You are correct, I've got this TV in right now with failed and faulty backlight LEDs and the Panel is V500HJI-PE8 with 12 x6 LED per strip backlights.
The wiring for the LED strips appears to be 1 connector wiring supplies one side of the screen top to bottom, so 6 strips of 6 LEDs.

I've extracted the firmware with an external programmer from the TSOP48 NAND. Do you happen to know if the firmware for these SMART TVs contain anything that would need removing before sharing the firmware?...

• Re: Panasonic TX-58AX802B - Boot Freeze

Bump.

I saw this thread a few months ago when I did some searching, but seems the users only ever managed to get a IC1600 Winbond chip, not the IC8903 eMMC contents.

https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=77395

Hoped someone would have been able to grab the contents either via programmer or a method of dumping to USB via a script like some Vestel boards are capable of it if enough of a working state.

Any assistance would be appreciated.Re: Panasonic TX-58AX802B - Boot Freeze

• Panasonic TX-58AX802B - Boot Freeze

I have a Panasonic TV a friend gave me which I wanted to get running again.
Seems the firmware might be corrupt because it will boot to the logo and then freeze and boot loop.
I have tried to use a USB recovery flash following Panasonic website instructions, but no progress. If someone has other recovery methods I'm open to advice.
I was told the problem got worse over a period of time until it wasn't booting.

I believe this model uses eMMC for firmware storage which from my experience with android tablet is usually a short lifespan storage technology.

Which panel maufacturer is WNVL?
EDIT: Looks like it could be the designation for a HD LG panel. There is a feint inscription of
"MB95 HD LG
32240 ELED SNB"...

Identifying the WP pin would be helpful if you happen to know what other names it would be on the PCB.

@SMDFlea I have N156HGA-EA3 Rev:C2 panels in a bracketed versions and a bracketless version if you can advise where I need to solder to on the PCB for programming with an RT809H unless I can solder to some of the eDP 30pin connector pins for programming?

Also is there a specification sheet for this model anywhere?...

I fixed the 2.2ohm resistor with two film resistors in parallel.
Also I was referring to Pin 8 of the BIOS chip.
I fixed this last year and gave it back to my brother.
He hasn't complained of fire so far

Hi Piernov,

Do you have an idea where I could buy that SMD resistor, but more importantly could you hazard a rough guess at the specification of that SMD resistor beyond the 2.2ohms?

The two resistors are still working ok, but I haven't returned my brother's machine to him yet as he wanted some software stuff doing too and haven't had time.

Thanks,

Thanks for the guidance piernov, I just bridged pins of the mosfet at the bottom right in the attached picture and I replaced the failed 2.2ohm resistor with 2x1.x ohm 1/2 watt resistors in series. The resistors get scalding hot but haven't burned after a few hours of being powered on with the machine doing some youtube and some windows updates.

The resistor was for the 1.5v section for the RAM by the sounds of it. I'm wondering if it is provided as a part of a protection/limiting circuit for overclocking...

Thanks for persisting with this and for your time.

Here are the standby voltages and forced on operation voltages on the uP0104s chip.
STBY PWRON
Pin 1 0.2v 0.24
Pin 2 2.41v 3.21v
Pin 3 2.41v 3.24v
Pin 4 3v 5v
Pin 5 0v 0v
Pin 6 1.1v 1.1v
Pin 7 0.79v 0.79v
Pin 8 0v 0v

Where do you propose I supply power to to check current draw?
Also where are you expecting to see a short to ground? a cap? a specific leg of one of...

• Re: MSI A68HM Grenade (MS-7891 ver:1.1) schematic/boardview needed

I found a shorted 2R2 resistor near the atx connector, but the one I replaced it with was smaller and it smoked straight away.
I have tested with two axial resistors which gives 2.2ohm and it along with a short on the drain+source of the P06P03A allows start up with the power button everytime...but the resistors are scalding to the touch.

I think I got a reading between 0.1A and 0.4A on the 1.5v input to that resistor and someone advises me the resistor is likely only for current sensing so...

Hi Piernov,

Sorry for the delayed response, I wasn't subscribed to my own post for some reason.

I have 5.10v at PWR SW+ pin, and I have tried a known good working PSU from my machine.

I have had success booting the machine by using an external bench PSU to provide 3v to an area between the PCI slots where that voltage is measured on a 3pin n channel mosfet.

I can get it to boot if I supply that voltage and short the PWR SW pins. If I remove mains power from the...

• MSI A68HM Grenade (MS-7891 ver:1.1) schematic/boardview needed

Hi,

MSI A68HM Grenade (MS-7891 ver:1.1) schematic/boardview is needed to check what voltage I should have at the bios chip and the PWR SW pin(s) since this board doesn't turn on even when all peripherals and RAM are removed and the PWR SW is shorted with a screwdriver.

I get 2.42V on pin 8 and I thought it should be 3-3.3V so wanted to confirm.

Any schematic or boardview would be appreciated, or even guidance of common parts to check on MSI boards of this era.

This is an AMD base board for reference.

• Asus GL502VT - video bios chip voltage?

Hi all,

Please could someone advise me on the following attachment?

The chip is labelled as a Winbond 25X40CLNIG (suspected datasheet attached).

1. I am wondering if this chip should have 4.2v on pins 7 and 8 and 0v on all other pins during normal operation? Those readings are not the 3v I expect. Also I thought pin 1 should have power to it when it is operational.

2. If this is not normal, what should I be expecting on each pin? I see that the datasheet says 4.6v is the absolute maximum voltage rating.

I am trying to investigate...

• Asus GL502VT - faulty capacitor?

Hi all,

I've searched the forum for this model and couldn't find anything.

Please could someone look at the attachment and advise if this is indeed a capacitor as I suspect.

I suspect it to be a capacitor and I have probed for continuity between ground and both sides of the cap and I get a constant beep on both.

My questions:-

1. If it is a capacitor then it should only beep momentarily and start charging right? This is the case with similar looking SMD components around it.

2. If it is failed, how would...

• Re: PS43E450A1WXXU Intermittent sound but no picture

I'm back.

I tried to get this to fail with a hair dryer, also the received working TV which is identical to this model doesn't help me via board swapping.

I've tried swapping the logic boards between units and I can't get either to fail after hours of the kids playing XBox on them via HDMI, laptop running a 1080p test from youtube and just leaving them on to get warmer.

I didn't find any bad solder joints on any of the boards and tapping around with my finger and also with the insulated handle...
