thats what i dont have... or the knowledge regarding the testing. Got two tvs here.. the one mentioned here and an old phillips flatline 37. The latter was a great old TV but it looks like its finally bit the dust. (flickering light error).

Unfortunately looks like im gonna have to take these to the dump. ...

i just picked up a Panasonic TX-32LZD80. same problem with the screen.

When i turn it on i get a faint blueish glow from the screen. I tried putting a flashlight up close to the screen to see if I could make out the menu but couldn't.

Does that mean the tcon board is dead rather than the lcd driver?

Also. Ive been reading this thread. If it really is a simple a fix as suggested then thats great but, my soldering skills are BAD!, my equipment is old and not very good and this fuse looks...

  • Re: Sony STR-DB940 pulled back from the brink

Hi there. My speakers have just blown. They were Memorex 305 100w speakers.
Does anyone know what speakers would go well with this amp? Would a pair of Jamo E550s be ok?

    thanks
    Tony

Ok. Just got some proper speakers for this amp and I've been able to test the thing. The sub channel was already dead when I got it, but now it seems to have developed another problem.

When I plug in an ipod with a 3.5mm headphone jack to rca the right front channel is very quiet on stereo and all the surround modes. If I select mono the front speakers have the same volume?

I remember a few nights before that surround on optical was running fine. Haven't had a chance to recheck if this has changed mind you....

It has an impedance selector of 4 and 8, currently set to 4.

Just wondering. Anyone else who owns this amp. What speakers do you have or what do you recommend looking out for?

    Thanks
    Tony

Just got one of these amps for free with remote and very good quality cables.
The guy said that the Bass channel was dead. Will re-soldering these relays help?

I only have a crappy little 5.1 system (those cheap things you get with dvd players). Can I plug those speakers in to test it? Also. If I do fix it, can anyone recommend what speakers to get. What would suit it?

    Thanks
    Tony
