Re: Need help with CPU Question.
So it sounds like the Celeron D 2.66ghz is too new for that motherboard and is probably in good working order (just not compatible)? Thanks for the input.

Need help with CPU Question.
I have an Aopen MX46L. It will post fine with a Celeron 1.8ghz and Pentiun 4 2.40ghz. I get nothing to happen with a Celeron D 2.66ghz (which I was told was a working CPU). On my CPU list put out by Aopen 2.4ghz is the higherst listed for Celeron, no Celeron D is listed at all, and the highest listed for Pentium 4 is 2.60ghz. Is the fact that no Celeron D's were listed mean that they just won't work or is 2.66ghz beyond what the motherboard is capably of handling? Or is the Celeron 2.66ghz CPU bad? Thanks in advance. John

Help with low ESR numbers, please.
I've read that you have to consult the data sheets for low ESR. When I get there, what do I look for if it doesn't explicitly say low ESR. Do I look for an impeadance number or what ? How does one determine below what number is considered low ESR? And if it differs for each #uF, is there a list for 10uf, 22uf, 100uf, 220uF, 470uf, 1000uf, 1500uf, 2200uf, and 3300uf or is it the same cut-off number for all? Thanks

Does this motherboard have a prayer?
My nephews Emachines power supply (Bestec 250w) went and took along with it the motherboard. The cpu tests fine in another similar motherboard. When this happens is there any chance that by replacing the caps it will work again or with this type of failure is it likely that other bad things on the motherboard were damaged? An inspection of the board does not show any visible signs of damage.

Re: Difference between 16v and 16vdc caps
Hey Guys, Thanks for all the help. When I get the caps, then the fun starts. I need to first read more from this wonderful web site and forum. This will be my first attempt to revive a motherboard. If a set of new caps doesn't work, in the trash it goes. That's about as far as I dare to go in repairing the thing. John

Re: Difference between 16v and 16vdc caps
I just received this info on two of the caps he has. Both are 105deg
This is what is written on each cap:
Sanyo, S.E.24, WG, 1000uf, 6.3v
Rubycon, T0229, MBZ, 3300uf, 6.3v
Does this translate into low esr or not...

Re: Difference between 16v and 16vdc caps
I don't know about the low esr status of the caps and I have no way to find it out, but if they aren't what impact would it have on using it in the motherboard. Like would it damage something or just not last as long?

Re: Difference between 16v and 16vdc caps
My friend has some caps to give me and all of his say 2200uf, 6.3v and 1000uf, 6.3v and 220uf, 16v . So all of them end in the voltage part with just a "v", like the caps on the motherboard right now. Can my friends caps be used provided the temp range, etc is the same?

Difference between 16v and 16vdc caps
I am in the process of replacing the caps on my motherboard. All of the caps read like 22uf 16v. Do I have v or vdc on my computer? Does this mean I should replace these caps with those showing 16v also. What about the 16vdc caps would those work. I'm confused about this voltage thing. Thanks in advance
