Now Sony tells me 2 year warranty. Going to buy a main board and try it. from the symptoms I've seen of TCons, this doesn't match it. If the main board doesn't fix it, I can always resell, then I'll get a TCon.
I may have just lucked out. The TV is under a 3 year warranty from the date it was shipped. I received it back in May 2016. Even if they go by mfg date, it was made in October 2015. The Video gods are smiling upon me for once.
I'll let everyone know how I make out and what the issue is if they repair vs. replace.
I did do a factory reset and checked the firmware levels...all good. Going to do a power reset as recommended by Sony then if that doesn't work then call warranty support.
Almost looks like a GPU issue I've seen on PC's. Hoping not the panel. Emailed Sony support to get their input. It's not constant, just with brighter contrasting colors. If I adjust the contrast or black level. it does change, but doesn't go away.
Having a strange issue, just wanted to know if anyone's seen this issue before. I'm getting shadows on bright spots on my picture. It doesn't happen all of the time, but is progressively getting more persistent. I'm thinking main board or tcon, but more the main board.
I've tried changing picture adjustments, etc. Half tempted to buy a new tv and work on this one at my leisure.
Here's link to my googledrive with some examples. Let me know if anyone's seen this before. Tempted to contact Sony. Not expecting them to fix it, would just like what to replace.

Re: Monitor LG Flatron W1934S 2 seconds then turned off
Just something to add about the W1934S displays. I was fortunate to bring three home from work that failed. What I found was for all three monitors, one set of lamps in each had gone bad or were intermittent. I was able to pull some bulbs out of a panel to test.
What tipped me off was a video on youtube. Looks like on of his lamp sets had a bad connections. My connections were good, the bulbs were just starting to go. Very burned up on the inside of the bulbs. It could be a sign of a poor connection there. I just...
Good news, the replacement module was the issue, or so it seems. I had it on for a good hour and no funny business. There's some slight red sparkles, but nothing too bad. It's a 10 year old plasma. I'll check voltages to make sure they're ok, other than that, spend an hour putting all the screws back in, and find a place in my house for the tv.
Lol, maybe...but it was only 20 bucks. I'm hoping that's causing the new issues. But from the two zsus failures I've ran into, I have high hopes that the module is the issue.
As I said above, thanks for the heads up on the fet issue. I ordered 10 from China, so plenty of spares. They were pretty cheap too, just a long wait.
Update, the module didn't fix the issue. I did find a shorted fet on the lower buffer as mmartel suggested, and it did fix the original issue. The parts just arrived from China, hence the long wait. Thanks mmartel!
However, it looks as if I have an intermittent zsus issue now which is probably from the used replacement I purchased. If the tv is on longer than 20 or 30 minutes, it will start to blink, show fuzzy reverse images, and then go back to normal, and start to blink. Luckily, I have a Hakko desoldering gun, so the original module is still usable....
Funny thing happened since I last worked on it. It started to act up again, so I unplugged it again. Unplugging it made it work longer, well it's been almost 2 weeks, and it's still up and running. So I don't know if the shotgun approach to touching up the main board or reseating connectors fixed it. If it acts up again, I'll start taking voltages.
My Insignia is cycling power. It will turn on and off by itself. When it shuts off, the "Power Off" displays on the screen. I'm leaning towards the main board, since it looks like it's getting the signals to turn on and off.
I've read the other posts here related to the other Insignia and Dynex tv's, some were a mixed bag of results. Visually inspecting everything, it all looks good. I did touch up some components on the main board by reflowing some solder joints, but it's still cycling power.
No set pattern, it will stay on for a while then go in spurts....
For $40, I'll think I'll order the module. I already unsoldered it with my Hako gun. That's 75% of the issue with those modules, getting them out cleanly. I'll let everyone know how I made it. May be a while, ordering from China, I'll be a couple of weeks. Cheers!
I have a Toshiba 50HP66 where it looks as if the picture is being squeezed into the middle of the screen. When it first turns on it looks as if there's a zsus failure, where as multicolored sparkles go across the screen. I get the bad picture when trying to bring the menu up. Sorry no pictures, it was kind of hard to get a picture of it with the set against the wall.
I checked voltages and it's all ok. And teh boards visibly look ok. I did a WCFT (well calibrated finger tip) measurement on the heatsinks on both the ysus and zsus boards. One of the zsus...
Yup, LG panel, there are more lines starting to appear. I tried to reseat the associated ribbon cables, no change. Fortunately I can part the zsus and ysus boards out and not be in the hole.
I have a 50HP66 I just fixed the ysus. I never saw the picture before repairing the it. There's a thin blue line going down the screen towards the middle. I've read in some instances the display is starting to go with this issue, anyone heard different, or should I just part it out now?
I would try to get a picture, but it's only about a pixel wide and hard to see.
Thanks Slick, I found the service manual, but it's lacking the schematics for that board. Maybe I need to check the version I downloaded. I just may drop the $25 for the board and cross my fingers. Also have the exhaust fan running if it smokes this one....lol
