Re: DVD player (JVC XV-F80) repair or replacement part needed
Thanks for the link. Looks like that will work.
Before I consider buying it though I want to be sure the problem is the pick-up lens. Could the problem be from any other source?...

DVD player (JVC XV-F80) repair or replacement part needed
I'm working on this DVD player (JVC XV-F80) that was not working due to a DVD inserted incorrectly. When I opened it up the DVD was completely shattered with pieces everywhere. I managed to clean it out and everything was working but it wasn't able to play DVDs very well; it will slow down and pause sometimes. As at now, the DVDs wont play at all - I get a "No Disc" error when I insert a DVD. I tried several known good DVDs, same result. It works perfectly with audio CDs.
My guess is the pick-up lens (part # LEA10024-01) is bad and need to be replaced. However I couldn't...Last edited by ceramic; 05-13-2009, 10:16 PM.

Re: Replacing capacitors
thanks for the tip and warning. yeah I have fried a few circuits by not considering the polarity. I've learnt that lesson now for good....

Re: Replacing capacitors
What if you are working a power supply for a DVD player?
Also, is there a way of finding the ESR value without buying those expensive ESR meters....

Replacing capacitors
When replacing a capacitor, does the capacitance have to be strictly the same? I know the voltage doesn't necessarily have to be the same but the new one has to be higher than the one you are replacing. So for instance, can you replace a 680uF 10V capacitor with an 820uF 25V capacitor (in case that's the only one you have handy and don't have time to order the same rating as the original). Thanks.

Re: unfusing
well, these are actually work lcd monitors and we usually send them to a recycling company when they aren't working. but i took the initiative to fix those that i can from my little experience and electrical engineering background.
thanks for the info PlainBill. I tried soldering one of those SMT fuses, and it was a nightmareit was virtually impossible for me to solder without overheating or damaging it somehow. maybe i wasn't using the right equipments...

Re: unfusing
thanks a lot guys. I've had to thrash a couple of lcd monitors because I couldn't find a replacement fuse. i was was tempted to just use a jumper but thought the fuse was there for a reason.

unfusing
What are dangers or problems you will encounter if you replace a fuse in an inverter board with a simple wire. Just wondering
