  • Re: Problem with Emachines L22YCET Monitor

It is indeed the monitor frying the cpu and I am 100% certain of that as of now, since the original post, it has fried a second cpu. I give up on working on THIS monitor because of the lack of parts and lack of technical information (electrical schematics, electrical values, etc) that is available for these emachine monitors. I will know not to ever buy another and when one comes into my shop that is a real tough fix issue, I will give it a go but repairing is just not logical. I will explain to the customer my own experience and findings...

Thanks for the input. I will copy my post to the "troubleshooting monitors" section as you have suggested, just learning my way around the forum and thanks for the suggestion.

    Concerning the monitor:

I have sort of put the monitor problem on the "back burner" so to speak, I have been very busy however, it has been rolling around in my head that it could actually be that the video cable has shorted and intend to test it very soon.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello, my name is Don.

I am an IT specialist with 4 years in the trade. I am very passionate about computers and love working with them. I have my own shop and have compiled archives on almost anything concerning computers, software, drivers, processors, motherboards and the like, I am now getting more into monitor repair and am only taking online courses for that but... hopefully, in time, I will have some expertise in that area as well.

If I can be of any help to any of you, please, contact me...

The monitor actually fried a cpu on the motherboard in one of my desktop computers when I powered the monitor "on" but, I did not know that had happened at that point in time, so I connected the monitor to another desktop computer thinking that maybe the reason the monitor was not working or displaying anything was because of a graphics issue in the 1st computer...
