• Re: Shuttle AN35N-Ultra

Sorry about covering the tops with color. I saw this method on another thread and thought it would be a cool way of helping me remember what uf/v size caps are where on the board.
I didn't see any cap which seemed to be leaking either at the top or at the bottom, though I'm not great at spotting bulges. I also rocked them and they all seem to be fairly tight to the board. I've included a pic of the caps around the CPU. Tried to get as much light on them as possible. It's night time here.

Thanks for the explanation on cold effects and...

• Shuttle AN35N-Ultra

Hi All,
I have two Shuttle AN35N-Ultra's, Version 1.1, which have unique problems and I wanted to make sure they are capacitor related. Here is a list of the color coded capacitors in the picture I've included. Forgive the mm sizes, I'm a newbie with a ruler, 25.40, and a calculator:
G-LUXON

9 - 1000uf @ 10v, LZ, 105`C, 312B(M), 14.28mm L X 7.93mm Dia., Pin Space 3.17mm (Aqua on Board)

9 - 100uf @ 16v, SX, 105`C, 312A(M), 7.93mm L X 6.35mm Dia., Pin Space 3.17mm (Red on Board)

1 - 10uf @ 25v, SX...

• Re: Abit NF7

Good idea, momaka! Thank you for reminding me to think green first.
However there are some stipulations at Best Buy:

Nevertheless, every recycling avenue counts, and I will do a more exhaustive search of my area for other recycling venues before doing the landfill option.

• Re: Fic Az11

Yeah, the site certainly appears to be designed for folks who start off with cheap Chinese crap in order to make a more complicated type of cheap Chinese crap.
The FIC board worked up until I ditched it for a faster platform. Can't remember now whether I had any trouble with it before I stopped using it. Tried using it again a few years later and it wouldn't boot.
Thank you both for your responses.

Thanks kc8adu!
Do you think the caps are worthy of salvage before I landfill the board?

• Abit NF7

Hi All,
I recently purchased a used Abit NF7 with AMD 2.0 ghz as a backup board for a Shuttle AN35N-Ultra I was having trouble with (that's another story, down the road). The NF7 wouldn't boot. No speaker code beeps. No spinning of fans. It has two LED's, a red one to denote power is getting to board, and a green one to denote it is booting(I think). Only the red one lights up.
The power supply is new. An Antec Earthwatts 650 (which is currently powering this post message) The processor is good (is running to post this message). All hardware connected to the NF7 at attempted...

• Fic Az11

Hi All,
Am going to re-cap a FIC AZ11 (rev. A2) primarily as a booting practice board ( It doesn't boot at this time.). All the large caps are Choyo 2200uf @ 10v. ( I've identified the only Choyo which is visibly bad.) A number of Teapo and one I.Q. There is one brand I need help identifying. They say "S.I." (with a registered trademark as well). They run in size from 4.7uf to 330uf.

Please disregard the ink on the top of the caps; part of my inventorying process
Thank you!

• Re: Worth re-capping of Allied AL-A350ATX

My lack of trust for this power supply (based on forum accounts) and the price of perfectly good caps wasted on it, will probably make me decide to not re-cap it. Despite it's being used simply as a soldering practice psu, I really ought to pragmatically look for viable alternatives.
Many thanks to all of you for your input!

• Worth re-capping of Allied AL-A350ATX

Hi All,
Since I'll be recapping my Antec 550 soon, I thought I'd get other power supplies, laying around, in working order to power some less than 1ghz m'boards I have. I had two in mind, an Astec ATX-250-3505, and a Allied AL-350ATX. The Astec works, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it had all Nichicon caps (or all I could see). So I won't worry about that one. The Allied is non-working, and looking in found it populated with Jun Fu, G-Luxon, and Capxon. The two big caps are Jun Fu. The ps apparently wasn't run much, it's very clean inside (some dirt on the fan blades), but the Jun...

• Re: Re-capping Antec True550

Many thanks to the Herald and to the Heraldic!

I'll be glad to use a 3300 where the 4700 was. Will fit a whole lot better. I accidently crushed one of the other fu 3300's getting it out. There was no escape of electrolyte so it must of been running on fumes.....
I was hoping I wouldn't have to mess with the itty bitty misc. caps but being they are f'ups, I guess I should have known better.
I will probably have a few more questions on this thread so stand at the ready, True Knight!

Thanks for the heads up on the Panasonics, Scenic. Mine are both 1200uf @ 200volts.

• Re-capping Antec True550

Hi All,
First off, I'd like to thank Topcat for starting this forum (and his business). Thanks also to all the very knowledgable guys who contribute. Certainly makes life easier for newbies like me just starting out on the re-capping road.
I have an Antec True550 PS which needs re-capping. It contained one Fuhjyyu 4700uf @ 10 volts (TM series) which had started leaking from the top, and had blown the bung on the bottom. There were three Fuhjyyu 3300uf @ 10 volts (TMR series), one of which had leaked at the top. All of these were located in the same area glued to one...
