Re: Denon avr-1909 no HDMI input after lightening surge
well i would rather talk about how to fix this HDMI pwr board, but with all the comments on lightening strikes!
I said surge because a lightening strike would be in the millions of volts with some 30,000amps or more that would fry anything in its path. With that much power it tends to "induce" voltage and current in things in the general vicinity of the strike! In my case the comcast cable wire. I beleive it came in on the shielded coaxial cable ,taking out the cable box and making its way to the Denon avr-1909...

Denon avr-1909 no HDMI input after lightening surge
I have a Denon AVR-1909 that I picked up used with surround sound speakers.
I have been overloaded with projects so my wife set it up with our 52" LCD and it worked great until lightening struck very close to house (under ground utilities) and took out our cable box. Replaced cable box and found Denon receiver not working with HDMI inputs (3 inputs 1 out). Audio works fine FM radio. Also if use the component video inputs I get HDMI output with upscaling.
This being an older unit parts are discontinued or harder to find.
Does anyone know if a replacement HDMI pwr board...

Transistor Identification
I'm trying to find a replacement for these 2 transistors. They are in a shift control module that belongs in my wife's SUV. The one labeled badtrans seems to be shorted (tested in circuit). If I can find a replacement I'll remove from circuit and test it to be sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Samsung LN-T5271F
Wow that opened up an infinte number settings. Ok I made it to menu
using "mute-1-8-2-power" and made some adjustments on volume and
amp . The volume still seemed to high so I went for the factory reset. In process of setting up now and after 2 restarts it seems to be fixed!
Thanks to tom66, budm ,mmartell and everyone else at this forum for your help, I learned something on this one. This also got me reading other post on troubleshooting and testing components in the tv section to keep me in the learning curve!

Re: Samsung LN-T5271F
ok tv starts with max volume and displays a "component HD" menu. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to check further due to the lack of volume control(Don't want to wake everyone up here). I did not see the volume indicator at the bottom of the screen, just the box in the center labeled component HD along with other things I didn't have time to read, man that seemed really loud!
Thanks for the help , I will check again tomorrow.
Sorry I forgot to say, this was after pushing "mute-1-8-2-power" and I would have continued but it's...

Re: Samsung LN-T5271F
My version doesn't have the feature. when powering off it does not give you a menu , it's just off or on. I'll keep looking but so far I don't see it.

Re: Samsung LN-T5271F
tom66 I appreciate the help, but I'm at a loss here on the standby
mode. Can you give me details on how to get in standby mode?

Re: Samsung LN-T5271F
No it's at full volume , I have to immediately start pressing the volume down button which does bring up the volume indicator. I have disabled
the remote , but that had no effect. The problem has become more consistent now rather than intermittent.

Samsung LN-T5271F
I have an intermittent problem , audio is at max when you turn on TV.
That's the only problem with it and it's only when you first power up.
Any info will be appreciated , so thanks in advance.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey thanks for the forum full of real information! This place is awesome.
I'm a former auto tech with a fair background in electronics and have worked on and with pc's since the old 80386 . I'm always in need of hardware information and I can see there's a wealth of info here as well as some very smart people to boot.
So thanks again for this forum , it's already helped me with some much needed power supply info.
