• Re: HP 15-p048nz white screen

Tried with the rubber pads, not quite the fix I was hoping for. Guess it would need a new screen.

Lijep pozdrav, komsija!...

• HP 15-p048nz white screen

Hi everyone, did any of you have any luck repairing this kind of cable (doesn't look like a lot could be done). As soon as I apply pressure to the cable the screen comes fully on, until then it stays completly white.
Thinking of adding some rubber pads under the lcd frame, but thats not really a permanent fix....

• Re: Yamaha rx-v373 power supply problem

This is from the youtube video:

Set your DMM to ohms, and check the grey and blue wire, if there is no reading the primary coil could be damaged.

Most likely it's the thermal fuse not the coil, although it is hidden in the transformer. You can bypass the blown thermal fuse, but you need to cut the wires as shown in image 2. You cut the blue wire just before it enters the transformer (circled in yellow).

Solder a new thermal fuse, in the video he bends the thermal fuse and inserts it into the transformer...

• Re: Asus-p5g41c-m lx rev-1

Maybe heat is your problem, have you checked that?
If you use a graphics card the ICH would be covered, specially if you use a PCI card as well, limiting the heat dissipation and airflow.

We both have the same G41+ICH7 chipsets, though my motherboard is gigabyte G41MT-S2p. In my case I use a HD5750 graphics card and creative 2 audigy sound card.
They completely cover the SB. That's why I installed a 120mm fan blowing air strait between the cards into the SB heatsink.

• Re: Non-Programmable Thermostat Modding

Not much time spent from the manufacturer on making the board more harder to hack/mod.
Like everything these days, products are shipped in a rush to the markets.

Nicely done.

• Re: Lcd gone mad or Gpu?

Tried them already, even the older ones from powercolors website.

@stj Thanks, reading upon EDID issue's they usually happen when switching between different video output devices. Exactly what I did.

I'll give the lcd to a friend, I'm sick of it. Time to upgrade anyway, I will need a bigger one very soon.

Thanks for the help guys Re: Lcd gone mad or Gpu?

I took it apart, just for fun and learning's sake.
The small board in picture 2, is it responsible for handling color, image resolution etc?
There's a small Realtek IC on the board, numbers are not clear enough to read so I cant search for a datasheet to understand what it does.
Maybe replacing the small board might solve the problem....

• Re: Lcd gone mad or Gpu?

I have almost lost my mind with this one.

After 3x fresh windows installs, numerous drivers, different rigs I'm still confused?

@compirate I've tried that, swapping cables, turning on/off, reseting factory defaults etc.

@junktv Setting it under desktop managment > desktop properties shows a message saying: "out of range 74.8KHz / 60Hz". And the only way getting back to windows again is using safe mode > system restore. As setting the resolution back to lower values while in safe mode...

• Re: Lcd gone mad or Gpu?

No it's not listed. Maximum is 1600x1200, true color 32bit @60Hz.

I think it has to do with windows not detecting my lcd properly like before.
It used to recognize it as (display: e2211), now it says: Generic Non-PNP Monitor?

Tried downloading drivers from LG website, but windows says it already has the best drivers for it?

Lcd gone mad or Gpu?

Hi guys, had a friends pc connected to my 22" lcd. Everything was working fine.
After I finished with his pc, I fired up my main rig.
There was a message on the lcd: "change your resolution to 1920x1080 for best performance". Nothing strange.

So I right click > screen resolution and behold there is no 1920x1080?
The lcd (LG 2211) is really old, it's connected via vga cable to my powercolor HD5750 gpu. I've downloaded the latest drivers from amd, still not able to set the resolution to 1920x1080, even using the catalyst control centre doesn't...

• Re: aspire 5532 screen replace...

Yes it is possible. There are tons of video's on youtube. Take out the batt. and power cord before you start disassembling.

Here's one:

It's always nice to have friends throwing things out!

Yes the 1115 socket is second gen. 1156 is the older one (first gen. I guess).
I've bought a mb+pentium G630 cpu for 60 euro, 2 years ago. Always wanted to upgrade the cpu with a i5. It's running XP x86 because I need a rig to use the old printers & scanners with.

• Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

Problem solved. It was the chinese sata cables I had causing trouble. It works flawlessly with the one from my main rig.

@retiredcaps

Just what I was looking for:

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 1114MB in 2.00 seconds = 556.57MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 224MB in 3.01 seconds = 74.35MB/sec

Thanks guys

• Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

Exactly what I did!
Overclocking it @2.2Ghz was easy but ran into troubles with the HDD. The read/write speed are stupidly slow..less than 10MB/s. It takes ages just to open up the browser on a freshly installed win7. It's constantly "writing-reading" something.
Tried swapping the sata cable, defragmenting, DMA is enabled???
Any software worth trying before I toss the hdd?

It's a no name brand, model lpa2-23 400W not even worth mentioning.
If I find a cheap X2 cpu it would be a decent machine for web and office work, the psu would need a upgrade though.

• Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

Saw this pc case outside, all smashed up on the front side. I thought someone had ripped everything out of it. But I was wrong.
Took a sneak peak from behind and there is a PSU and mobo present so I took it home. Opened up the panel, and I was surprised, nothings missing!
Fired her up. fans are spinning but no display.
Upon further inspection the mobo had some bad caps. KZG 6.3V 3300uF replaced them and now she works.
Spec:
Cpu - AM2 Athlon64 3000+
RAM - 1GB
HDD - Hitachi 160GB 3.0Gb/s
MB - Biostar...

• Re: Need help desoldering MOSFETs.

I put a little drop of solder on the tip, then go to a joint you want to desolder, it will re-flow much faster. Then I use a desoldering pump to suck up the solder.

I have the cheapest one, it has worked great so far....
