Hello,
I run an independent workshop in Hungary specializing in the repair, restoration, and technically sound upgrading of both vintage and modern musical instruments and studio equipment. In addition to synthesizers, drum machines, and professional outboard gear, I regularly work on retro computers.
My approach is strictly measurement-driven and diagnostics-focused. Typical cases include linear and switch-mode power supplies, aging electrolytic capacitors, noise-related issues, stability problems, and thermally induced faults. Every repair is verified instrumentally, like FFT-based spectral analysis, noise and distortion measurements, ripple analysis, oscilloscope verification, ESR and frequency-dependent capacitance measurements, as well as semiconductor characteristic testing, etc. In audio equipment, I place particular emphasis on long-term testing and behavior under real operating load conditions, not only under fresh bench conditions.
I joined the forum to exchange hands-on repair experience and compare notes with others who deal with similar hardware.
All the best,

Cordialement.
