Hello. I have returned to my great hobby after many years of working in a corporation. Now electronics and electrical work of all kinds have once again taken the lead. And since the field of electronics is moving forward quickly, I am learning again and catching up on what I have missed. I discovered this website thanks to friends, and for now I am new here. Wishing you many successful days. Milan from a small village near Opava – Czech Republic.Comment

Hello, I am NEW to BADCAPS and came here in hopes of some assistance.
I have an Acer AN17-51 Laptop that I purchased new last April.
Unfortunately, it started exhibiting a weird problem shortly after the 12-month warranty ran out (kicking myself for not purchasing an extended warranty).
When I selected RESTART from the WIN11 Start Button it would SHUT DOWN (not restart).
When I selected SHUT DOWN from the WIN11 Start Button it would go into some weird sleep mode and came out of it only after rebooting several times.
In order to boot it up successfully every time I simply selected RESTART; let it shut down; then started it normally when I was ready to use it again.
Until one day.....I accidentally, selected SHUT DOWN and that's how I ended up here.
NO P.O.S.T. at all - no Acer Logo - Nada, Zilch.
I took it to UBreakWeFixIt and as they handed it back to me they told me a BIOS Crisis Recovery option MIGHT WORK but it not it was most likely the MoBo.
They said I would need an Flash drive formatted for FAT32 and ".fd" file loaded on said Flash Drive; press a specific key combo; cross my eyes and look toward true north while singing "Oklahoma".
Well, maybe the last 3 items were added for theatrics but hopefully you get the point.
My beloved laptop is currently a BRICK and I really need it working again.
I don't know where to start but I thought this would be the best place.
Thank you in advance for any assistance; direction; advice you can provide.
Regards,

Hi guys,
i am Randy and found this interesting forum while looking for an older notebook schematic. I made music and worked on musical equipment for a lot of years and one of my projects was Bachman, Turner Overdrive...yes, that stuttering guy, but it's all gone by now. If anyone knows where to find datasheets of amd cpus without asking the amd support for it this could be helpful. I hope we will have a good exchange of information here and we'll cross our swords by chance hopefully...bye, RandyComment

Hi everyone! I’m Eugene — a lifelong computer geek with an unhealthy love for clean code, weird hardware experiments, and late-night debugging sessions. I tinker with everything from custom keyboards to small home servers, and I’m always on the lookout for new tools, languages, or tech rabbit holes to dive into.
Looking forward to meeting fellow enthusiasts and exchanging ideas!

Hello, good day everyone
I found this forum at the age of almost 50, hoping to learn, especially about electronics.
I'm not interested in money, but in learning, primarily about mini-ITX motherboards and
video cards. I would like to learn how to repair video cards. This is not my profession; I am a gas fitter.
My first computer was a Commodore 64. I've always had a computer since then.
I'm from Hungary.
Thank you in advance for your patience...

Greetings all,
I am new to this forum, but have been using electronics from a very young age (Atari 2600). This definitely influenced my love for all things computer-related as I got older. My first PC was an old Hewlett-Packard Compaq followed by a Gateway 2000 PC. My first custom build was using a bunch of old PC's that had been tossed out to build a mostly-working one. That one used an 80386 processor with a 80387 math co-processor. I don't remember what it had for Ram and I was never able to get the HDD to work (used an EEPROM stand-alone chip as the controller). Not enough experience at the time, was still learning. That encouraged me to start learning programming; enter Basic and QBasic. From there I ended up getting an Apple II (Christmas gift), followed shortly by a PC with a Pentium, then a Pentium II, and then a Pentium III. This paved the way to a career in electronics as I really wanted to know how all these different things tied together, which led to me enlisting in the Army. I worked on some seriously HV HF systems during that time, though I eventually left Active duty, I still wanted to used my hard-earned skill set, so I went to college for an Associates in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology. From there I started a second career in Information Technology working with electronic gaming systems and customer support (Tier 1). I eventually moved up to (Tier 2) followed by (Tier 3). I continued serving in the Army National Guard (24yr Veteran) while continuing to build custom PCs for myself, as well as friends and family. I have continued using my experience and skills, even getting into the hobby of PCB design, as well as PC repair for family and friends. My children absolutely love when they get a new custom built PC for their birthday, though I don't do that every year, to expensive these days. So, yeah, just a little bit about me and my experience, as well as knowledge (though still learning even now).
Currently, I live in:
Fairfield, ME
