could be a bad cap, check the little ceramic caps for shorts, probe on each end of cap, meter in continuity mode 000 or close is a short, can also use ohm mode, start by checking the ones close to your audio chips, I usually just check them all, doesnt really take much time, helps if you have beep mode on your meter, be sure to check the ones on underside of board as well.

some mainboards on ebay for about 40 bux, I think these old samsungs are far more reliable than the newer ones.

I have returned the tv to my friend and he gave it to someone. Hope they can fix it.
