I have an Insignia 50" TV that went bad. No picture but backlights, sound, remote control, etc. work fine. I have swapped TCOT but no luck. Running half of the board gives me half white half black or half white and the other half vertical color lines that move with the video. I am looking for test points on the TCOT and an understanding of the TCOT LED? It blinks only once at power-up and once again at power-down?! Suggestions?
Anyone familiar with Insignia CHOT CV500U2-T01-CB-1?

did you make sure the tcon replacement was a match by matching up the numbers on the white sticker not just the printing on the board?Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Much probably the problem sits in the panel or panel's distribution boards.. i can suggest you a simple test for not high equipped hobbist technicians, it becomes more handy with a "cheap" ir cam, so take a 12v power supply, connect 2 wires, the negative fixed to the tv chassis, the positive try to do something handy like tinning the end of it or connect it to an unused tester probe, then supply the positive to the tcon fuse with repetitive fast touches, feel on the panel's boards if something warms, for example a capacitor or diode.. i don't know the speed of tcon start process so start with less fast touches then eventually increase speed..Last edited by Davi.p; 03-25-2022, 03:43 AM.Comment

Re: Anyone familiar with Insignia CHOT CV500U2-T01-CB-1?
Thanks for the suggestions. I have verified that the tcon board is identical to the original and that it has 12v (at the 12v test pad). I tested transistors on the panel boards and there are a few that have very minimal voltage--but without any type of docs I don't know what voltages to expect.Comment

those tcons seem to be selling for about 8 bucks, not a bad price, wonder if you just got a bad one.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. by Raulnngood night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?
By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the... -
by scubacamperI found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display... -
by cajoegHello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.
The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV... -
by valvashonThe 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it... -
