colortrak 2000 pulses off / on

Hello all, new to the site. My workshop TV, Colortrak2000 pulses off and on. Started a while back, mostly when weather is cold. Will come on in a few minutes. Yesterday never stopped pulsing , this morning a good hour till it stayed on. When she pulses you can hear audio and see a small green spot on screen. Wher should I start? Thanks

Check the stanby cap, usually a 250v cap next or near the relay that clicks when the set powers on.

I have fixed three 90's TV sets with similar issues and this cap was the problem in all of them.

      Thank you,
If Cap is at fault, is it RCA specific or will a similar rated cap work?

When you get the back cover off and have a look, see if you can find the chassis model. Usually labeled CTCxxxyyy for color tv sets. You can use any brand capacitor of the same capacitance and voltage rating. Poke around here and you will find that there are several brands of capacitors that are mis-spelled, missing an "r" as the second letter, and several brands that are 'user recommended'. You need to find a capacitor that will physically fit into the allocated area, diameter and height-wise.
The RCA sets of the early 90's had SMPS's that went blooey when the capacitors dried up. Once you find the chassis number, post it, and you'll get more response.

Tv has been good for last couple years now it`s pulsing on and off again. Chassis number is ctc133B. looked at circuit board /slid it out. resoldered cap connections near relay,no better. Only voltage I see close on diagram is +230v tp 405. but it is not a can type?
