    Samsung 58" UN58J5190AFXZA Bad Mainboard

Hey guys. Bought a 58" Samsung UN58J5190AFXZA that didn't work (real cheap). It was unclear exactly what didn't work, only that it "suddenly" stopped working. I also confirmed that the screen was not damaged, so thought it was worth a look. Upon plugging it in to see what it would do, it came on and was on the tv input, only I had to use the joystick on back to turn it on, it would not respond to the remote (remote works fine on my other Samsung tv). I plugged in some rabbit ears and let it program the tuner and that worked. Then I changed to the HDMI input and that's what didn't work. It would not receive from either of the two HDMI ports. I then tested the Screen mirroring with my samsung phone, and that worked. Used the joystick again to change back to the HDMI input and tried again, nothing. Turned off unit and came back later. This time I was going to do a firmware update but discovered it was stuck in HDMI mode and would no longer respond to the joystick (could no longer get into menu, change inputs ect). Could not even turn it off with joystick.
Appears to be a main board issue with the rom or something, just wondering if any of ya'll have seen this condition? Thanks TB

I had similar problem. Tv would freeze on HDMI input then become unresponsive. Turned out to be a damaged HDMI port.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Yeah does sound like a bad main board. That model does have backlight failures that pop at transistor on the PS like UN58H5202. Make sure you don't run the backlights at max and look for dark patches with a clear white image to check for burnt out LEDS.

Thanks guys, I have ordered the main board. Will be able to check the brightness setting when I get back into the menu. My other Samsung 46 is set at factory defaults at about 70%. Supposed to get the board in on Wed, but not holding my breath due to the Christmas shipping rush. Will post results after main board installation. TB

Follow up guys. I replaced the main board. I now have remote control response, can get into menus, can auto program the receiver for the local DTV channels. Have yet to try an HDMI input source, but will soon.

Now for the thing that started to happen after about 5 minutes of being on. The back lighting started to flicker slow at first, then increased in frequency to the point they would go out. Seems to be a breakdown in the PS/led back light circuit, or a bad led/strip. So on to the next episode! TB

No Standby Light on Samsung UN65MU6300FXZA with Mainboard BN94-12440E
            by Michael Long
            I had a Dead Samsung UN65MU6300FXZA with Mainboard BN94-12440E
Dead / No Power / No Standby Light results after power company had three
consecutive power outages on/off/on/off/on/off after which TV was rendered unresponsive.

After exploring the issue found Mainboard was the fault. Then with research on this site determined IC1604 was the suspect. The IC1604 is a surface mounted device (SMD) EEPROM, Winbond Model 25Q40CLSIP. A read on this EEPROM came back with all FF FF FF FF FF in all registers blank and empty of data. I had a spare mainboard with intact IC1604 and utilized...

Samsung TV HG46EB690QB No picture, only backlight when disconnected mainboard
            by Henke
I came across a Samsung tv that does not seem to start up. When i plug it in nothing happens except that the red led turns on. But when i disconnect the mainboard, the backlight turns on and immediately turns back off when i connect the mb again.

I have tried to disconnect one, none and both cable(s) from the Tcon to the screen but it makes no differens. The PSU seems to work, but when the mb is connected one of the 5V cycles high and low.

            Anyone with inputs?...

Samsung QE65Q60TAUXZT New Mainboard but wrong colours
            by alltvrepairs
            Hi,
I have ordered a new main from Samsung. Tv works fine but colours are wrong. I have updated the Panel type as per panel sticker but made no difference. I have another spare good main board and copied the SPI data to the new board but still same problem.

I have attached pics to what difference I have found a difference n the Tcon value as per (2). However haven't found from where I can modify this value. Note I have entered SM with normal remote. Currently I do not have Factory remote.
Do we have a Service Manual for this please?

            Any assistance welcome!...

Samsung TV - no backlight, except when mainboard disconnected
            by zoidberg123
            Hi,

I am troubleshooting a Samsung ue48h6400aw. When plugged normally, trying to turn it on leads to blinking power light 7 times and no backlight. If I press buttons I see the corresponding power light flashing (that it acknowledged the action).

If I unplug the mainboard from the power board and plug in the TV, the backlight turns on.

Does this mean it's 100% the mainboard and I should replace that? Or it could still be the power board?

            Would appreciate any input, thanks!

Samsung LED only lights when mainboard disconnected ue48h6400aw
            by zoidberg123
            Hiya,
I have an LED TV that died - when plugged in the power light blinks 7 times and the screen is dark. I disconnected the mainboard and the TV lights up when plugged. If I leave the mainboard plugged in and remove either side of the tcon, screen lights up (with nothing on it).

I replaced the tcon and the same is still true. Does this mean it's definitely the mainboard and I should order one? Is there a way I can test it to confirm?

            Thanks,
            Gil
