Panasonic 42”Plasma TH-42PX77U with color vertical lines

Hello, I'm hoping finding this Panasonic 42” Plasma TV in the trash dumper @ work will be me some joy. The model number is a TH-42PX77U, I haven't cracked its open yet because I'm a little new when it come to Plasma television. I have work on LCD TV and LCD Monitors but no Plasma. I uploaded a picture of it. It power on fine but, there are multi color lines in the screen. On the left side of the screen you can see an image of what input is being selected.

Question: Do this appear to be a bad screen?

I will open this TV this weekend and post more pictures

Not sure what to look for?

Any input will help?

Wizard is the expert, but if I have absorbed what he has tried to teach us, those are the signs of a bad panel.

If there are virticle lines EVENLY (pattern) across the screen It may be the control board. If only one or two at odd spaces (no pattern) Wizard says bad pdp. This is where the driver is part of the pdp and not just plugged into it. I have seen some pdps (few) where you can repair it. It depends on the year and brand of the pdp. I don`t have a list, but wish I did.

After looking around inside this plasma TV I didn't see anything out of place or any loose connections. I wish I was able to detemine for sure if the plasma panel itself is bad. I have search eBay for parts and I might invest into Main Logic Controller D Board.

The C1 & C2 BUFFER BOARD there wasn't much to it so I will swap that second. (maybe?)

I do see a bit of a pattern on the pdp You may luck out. Again, Wizard is the expert here, The boards you need to be concerned with I think are along the bottom or top of the pdp. when you remove the back panel take a good picture. I have not looked at any panasonics yet to really be of any help here. good luck!

Hi, did this ever get resolved ? I have here 3 x TH-42PV70P with similar colored vertical lines funny enough only in the middle half of the picture, so vertically the first and last quarter of the screen is perfect. I have swapped C boards and D boards between two of those units to see if the bad lines move with the boards, but that did not seem to be the case.
I would be grateful for any hints, even if the answer is, that the Panels are dead. I was thinking of building a cable between one of the 4 x 68 pin HD connectors of the C boards and the Panel, so that I could e.g. connect the working first 64 columns to one of the failing segements to verify, that it is indeed the panel.
Is this available professionally ? 68 pins with 0.5 mm pitch do seem like a challenge. Does anyone see a problem with trying that because of the extra cable in the path ?

WOW !!! Blowing off the dust on the post. Time have when by so fast.
I made a promise to myself to start fixing plasma TV.I have been working on LCD monitors and LCD TV. I'm currently working on a Panasonic TH-42PX60U with same problem.
