    Service Manual xbr-65x850d

    Can anyone share the Service manual for the Sony xbr-65x850d (or xbr-55x850d)?

    I am having an issue where it powers up for about 3 seconds, screen shuts off, 6 blinks.

    Feels like a LED issue, and would like to find the backlight PWM signal to experiment with injecting a different/lower duty cycle. Nothing seems to be marked on the board and im not having enough time to get an accurate reading on a meter/scope.

    A pinout for the connector between the little power board and main board be ideal

      If the attached photo is of your power supply then it does appear to have a legend for the connectors.

          I appreciate it, but thats not the same board. This is one of the XBRs that has the external DC power supply, and then it plugs into a little power distribution board.

          This little board has the 2 backlight driver ICs on it as well, but im struggling to find where those ICs are getting the PWM from.

                  Kind of a silly but effective work around on this tv. It for sure is a LED issue.

                  If you disconnect pin 2 (FAIL) on both of the backlight controller ICs, it will stop triggering the shutdown. At which point you can then go into the settings and turn down the backlight (which will of course be set to MAX). when it is set to reasonable level you can reconnect the FAIL pins and so far its been working.

                  Seems like over/under voltage/current is being triggered when the ICs are blasting at full power.

                  A true fix would be testing and replacing leds, but you could not pay me enough to ever do a side lit XBR again.

                  Well hopefully that helps someone out in the future.

                      The service manuals for these models do not have schematics, the pwm signal(s) will come from the main board

                                  I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                  Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                  I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                  The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                  With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                  First, I'm not sure it's the right section to post for this type of device, but could not think of something better.

                                  Ok, so my son (a mechanic) bought a faulty Hofmann Geodyna 6300 wheel balancer (which appears to be mostly a re-branded Snap-on wheel balancer).

                                  Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface.
