Samsung PN50A550 Plamsa Vertical and Horizontal lines

    Hey everyone,

I have a Samsung PN50A550 plasma with a bunch of vertical lines and a couple black horizontal lines/bars.

I set the TV up to run the test pattern and all of the lines are still there. The TV also power cycles. It will show the white, red, and green patterns and then powers off and back on shortly after showing the blue pattern.

I doubt all of the panel drivers and a few buffer ICs would've gone bad all at once, so that leaves the logic board.

Can anyone verify my diagnosis? I would hate to buy a logic board and have it not be the problem.

Also, the only logic boards I can find online have the same part number, but a different board number and revision number. Will this cause me any problems or will it still work fine.

I guess the next question is, does anyone know where I can even buy this board? The only one listed on ebay has the LVDS connector mounted in the right angle position instead of the vertical position so I would not be able to use it anyways.

I'm not sure what part of the board causes this problem. Bad solder joints on the BGA chip?

I just got rid of a PN50A450P that had 6 black lines near the top and the problem was the panel itself, but the picture was fine other than the lines.

How do horizontal lines indicate a panel failure? Doesn't that usually indicate a buffer board problem? What part of the plasma panel actually fails to give horizontal lines? I know the COF chips on the panel flex cables can cause vertical lines when they fail but the horizontal connections don't have these chips.

It seems strange to me that it would be a panel failure as it all happened at once. The only common link between the vertical and horizontal lines would be the logic board wouldn't it?

I scoped the buffer outputs and there was signal going to the panel on all the blank lines, This panel originally only had 2 black lines and over time it became 6 (I tried a different buffer board just to be sure) I had seen this before, I suspect the internal connection between the foil and internal element breaks . But maybe yours is different.

Hmm, that's a shame. I probed the ribbon cable going to the x driver boards from the logic board and a couple of the lines has no LVDS signals on them. I think that is what is causing the vertical lines but I can't be sure.

Did you ever solve this? I have the same issue.

No, I haven't. I am building a logic analyzer to record the LVDS signals going to and coming from the logic board to try and decipher the signal format they are using and see if the logic board is at fault.

I will post an update if I find anything out.

                    Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                    by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                    by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

Toshiba TV 55L6200U horizontal lines + vertical bands. Any hope?

                    Hi all,

My TV had been showing for the last year some faint horizontal lines on all of its right side, about one out of each 4 of 5 rows of pixels. Not much of a bother, they were unnoticeable when watching a movie. Then, all of a sudden the horizontal lines became much stronger and crossed the whole screen, effectively making it a pain to watch.

I watched some youtube video where some guy "fixes" it with some tape on the ribbon cable of the t-con, so I tried that, but to no avail. Actually, after putting the TV back together again things worsened: apart...

                    Help. Sony kd-65x85dj vertical lines
                    by visionbluedemon
First. it has no picture at all. i solved it by covering the ckv lines using tape to to block the connections

Second. now has picture but with vertical lines that follow the image. tcon board ic overheating

tried blocking LC lines too, but same results

is it lcd panel issue or tcon board issue?...
