Txl47e5b , panasonic nand chip advice

    Hi all

Issue with this set is that after a few minutes of working , the remote control & on board functions stop working .

Current software version is 1267-10402 , which i assume is the latest available , as i cannot get set to take an upgrade.

Managed to obtain a working main board , which has same software version .

Transplanted the TSOP 48 NAND chip , IC8900 ( 29F4G08ABADA ) from the working board into the faulty board , which now is working .

This proved NAND chip is the problem , in the form of corrupt data.

Used my TNM5000 programmer to pull data from the good NAND , then programmed up a new blank .

All i get with the programmed chip is a constant flashing standby LED .

All i can think of is that Panasonic have partitioned off some of the data & protected it , so that it cannot be copied.

Can anyone help , as this is about as far as my knowledge on software goes .

    MAIN BOARD DETAILS

    PART NO - TXN/A10TWUB

    PCB NO - TNPH0993

    LG DISPLAY - LC470EUN ( SE ) ( M2 )

Re: Txl47e5b , panasonic nand chip advice

According to the datasheet for that NAND flash, it contains a special one time programmable area that cannot be erased. In order to program or read from it, you must use the special OTP commands.

Perhaps your programmer is not reading this area from the working flash and therefore not writing it to the new chip.

I don't know enough about that programmer to be able to tell you if it can access the OTP area or not. I have always just rigged up my own programmers using a microcontroller or FPGA board. Perhaps you could rig something up to read the OTP area of the working chip and compare it to the blank chip you programmed.

Thanks very much for the advice .

I'm not sure how to do that .

My experience is mostly on hardware issues .

Hmm, I would buy one to write some code for a reader/writer but the shipping is $40 just to get one chip.

If the TV works with the chip off the donor board, why are you wanting to write the data to a blank chip?

Wonder if you got a bad blank chip, did you try it with another chip?

            Hi

In answer to the first question , these boards are quite rare & it took me a month to find one .If i require another in future , it may not be available .

In answer to second question , chips are from a very good source . I also tried programming the original chip .

I suspect as stated in previous post , that the one time programming portion of chip cannot be read by my programmer .

First time trying to pull date from a Micron manufactured chip .

Also thanks for the offer Canadaboy . If it comes to it , i'm quite happy to pay for your services .

May be another way round issue , as i have discovered that there is a later firmware upgrade available than the one installed on TV , therefore might try that first .

Ah I see. That makes sense. I would likely do the same.

From what you've said about the problem, it definitely seems like your issue is with the OTP region in the flash as it would make sense that Panasonic would store some important information in there that could not be modified.

It should just be a matter of finding a programmer that can read and write that area. Perhaps yours can and there is a hidden setting somewhere?

Thanks very much for your input .

May have solved the issue .

Had a Panasonic SD card , that i probably ordered from China some time ago.

Formatted using FAT system , then loaded software .

Powered TV , inserted SD , as per instructions , but set wouldn't recognise it .

Started again , this time formatting with FAT 32 .

Powered on TV , then was prompted to upgrade from 1267 to 1269 .

                Software now updated .

Need to test for a while , but looking good .

Would normally expect to be locked out after a few mins , but still working .

Will test further & update post .

Ok, so it just needed pairing.

No , there was a later update for the set , that i wasn't aware of .

The software is written to the chip i had previously been messing about with .

I fitted the original chip with issue back onto the board , then upgraded software via SD card.

Right update and pairing are used interchangeably, btw you don't use a space between the end of your word and the period or comma.

                              Always happy to learn.

Also on the link you posted,it relates to pairing Sony TV main with T-con & display, which i'm well aware of.

On Panasonic TV i have been working on that's not the case .

                                  Hi

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader

                                  Long story short:
                                  - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                  - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                  - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                  - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...
