I messed up my Toshiba TV power supply...

    Hello all.

First real post ever. I used to lurk a lot but got busy with other things, and rusty.

Here's what happened: I was given a nice older broken Toshiba Regza 55zv650u. It didn't turn on. I figured it could be a easy fix, a power supply. I used to fix computer monitor power supplies all the time, with nothing more than capacitors.

Well, there's a thread on here on this power supply board (V28A000962A1) and a youtube video posted in it. Helpful stuff. I found from the youtube my fuse/resistor R850 was shot (can't remember if blown open or closed). I cleaned out the relays SR80 and SR80 and replaced the resistor with one from a shopjimmy kit.

In the youtube video he also replaced the voltage regulator Q880. I had some trouble here. I haven't done this kind of work in a long time and all my equipment is packed away so I was trying to do this without anything approaching the right tools, and I ended up breaking the copper plating on the board around some of the pins. What I did to try to remedy this was shine a flashlight through the board to try to guess what had been connected to what and solder some small pieces of wire on to accomplish the same function. There's no guarantee I guessed right.

Anyway, I gave it power again and I get 5v on 5V1, and if I touch the POW_TV pin to any voltage at all I do get relay clicking. It feels and sounds like SR80. My 12V and 24V pins are all dead though.

    I also have:
    PWR_PRT: 3V
    AC_DET: 0.2V

    Everything else is zero.

Sometimes I get around 8v off some of the 24V pins. It's not consistent and I'm not sure if it has to do with one of the relays clicking in or not. I do hear a relay clicking from time to time as I take voltage measurements - I assume my crappy multimeter is doing more than just measuring at times.

So what should I do here? The first thing is I don't know if I put the voltage regulator Q880 in right. I don't have a schematic so I guessed. I'm sure I could have ruined it by guessing too.

And if I did get it right...well, I still don't really get any voltage other than 5 on the one pin. What's the next thing to check?

I don't mind throwing it out but I like to try my best first since it's a good way to learn more difficult repairs.

What is the model number of your set. Can you post photo's of your boards.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      Hi. TV model is 55zv650u

With any luck I managed to get my attachments working and you'll see the board. I zoomed in on the area that I messed up. Don't laugh too much - you should see the tools I'm working with!
