    Sony KD-60X690E 6 blink error

I have a Sony KD-60X690E tv that has issues in going to a 6 blink red status light error. The tv will sometimes function and work for a couple of days to a week and then will go into the 6 blink error. Kinda stumped on what the issue could be.

Here are pictures of the tv.

This may be backlight error. Turn the backlights down as much as possible and see if there is a change. Backlight not brightness or contrast,

Also turn off any ambient light sensor feature that might increase the backlight level in a bright room.

So turning down to 50% should fix the issue? Or should i go ahead and replace the backlights?

It is not a fix, it is to find out the LED's are failing when driven at high current or not, so if it will stay on longer when the backlights level is turned down, LEDs will run cooler, and you can live with that then use it like that until the backlight fail completely, then you will have to take the LCD panel apart ti get to the LED strips and replace them.

Well another odd thing when it does want to work is that the colors are off/ discolored.

Looks like that model uses the LEDs that turn blue as well. Time for a full replacement. https://techhometravel.com/lg-49uj65...e-purple-tint/

So it looks like it was a led(s) issue. Don't forget to turn down the backlight as low as you can to extend the life of the new led strips.

Got one of these (KD60X690E) and had 6 blinking red error. Tested backlight and it shows on with close to 150v (10 bars x 5 LED x 3V/LED) Did reset sequence and backlight/TV turned on and no more 6 blinking red led code. Has been working fine for a few hours. But backlight is not super bright (even set to max of 50) and seems dim in a brightly lit room (YouTube white screen video shows no burnt out LEDs)

Does anyone know if these backlight will lose brightness as they age? I did read they turn blue with age (like the LGs I've seen) although this one has not. Regular and service menu don't show # hours on the backlight but it's a 2017 TV so maybe more than 10k hours by now when LEDs usually fail/turn blue. Rather not open it up and replace LEDs if possible. Still quite usable but probably for a darker lit room. Doesn't appear to have any ambient light sensing dynamic backlight feature.

Attached screen shots can't show in person brightness level of course but clearly no failed LEDs in the white screen test.

Yes. You probably didn't fix 6x error as it will come back again. You can put BL_ERR on PSU to GND to turn off 6x error, but you backlight could shut down completely that way when things go wrong (when a diode starts turning off). Only real fix is to replace backlight.

Yeah make sense, its too dim anyways so going to replace the backlight and give this TV a few more good years.

Backlights came in but before putting them, did more investigation and found its the stupid SONY's built-in YouTube app.

The menu system looks plenty bright. My Firestick 4K Max over the ARC HDMI port will enable choosing HDR Video or HDR Vivid in picture mode. HDR Vivid is super bright. The problem is the built-in Youtube app (running latest firmware 4.931 link). This TV doesn't really have very much of an App Store. Just Prime Video, Youtube and couple of others. I'm guessing Youtube video implementation is outdated and somehow doesn't match their own TV's HDR brightness settings.

So the answer is... use an external Fire or Roku stick for way more apps and proper brightness via HDR.

For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

When I power the TV on, usually nothing happens, it clicks, and then it shuts off and the red light blinks 4 times. Sometimes the backlights turn on for a few seconds, flicker, and then it powers itself off. I was able to access the service menu screen once, and it showed numerous LD_ERR instances. I have since replaced the backlights and the LD Board (part #ST650LD-20S01), but have not had any success - still the same error code. I've also tried disconnecting and grounding both the LD_ERR and BL_ERR wires to bypass the error, but that didn't work either. Any ideas of what the problem is and how...

                            Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...
