    Sanyo 40" LCD TV BA5G27G0201 1

I was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of common failures in this board? So far, I have found blown fuse and a shorted diode. TV would not power up. It seems that replacement boards are scarce which makes me wonder if there was a common failure. I'm new here, just thought I'd ask.

What is the number on the mosfet marked. Can you post a photo of the underside of the board.

Thank you for your reply. The number on that mosfet is: TK10P60W

With the set powered off you need to check that there is no short circuit between any of the 3 pins.
I see that one of the diodes is missing D65xx and another needs to have it's solder joint redone.

Thanks for the observations. One diode has been removed as it is shorted and I have also since removed the fuse, waiting on both to arrive within a few weeks.

Another diode nearby had been removed & replaced for testing. Everything else seems to check out, I'll know for sure once I get the replacement components in and test. From what I've experienced with these boards, they tend to blow a diode or two. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience or found other faults that seem to be common on these type of boards.

It would be easier to replace the board for $70 but I'd would rather repair it for $10 in parts and an hr of labor when possible. Once I have this repaired, I'll post the results.

            Dick,

You were spot on. Mosfet shorted, other than a blown fuse and shorted diode, everything else seems to be in order. Fuse had to be ordered from China, waiting.

Thanks again for bringing that to my attention.

Hopefully you have resolved the problem. I would just tidy up any solder joints that look like they need it while waiting for the parts to arrive.

Just had a thought. If the Mosfet was short and not open circuited then there may be a low ohmage (0.3 - 0.5 ohm) resistor in the source line that may have gone open. Also the components connected to the gate of the Mosfet would need to be checked to ensure that any high voltage at the Drain did not feed back to the driving IC and damage it.

Re: Sanyo 40" LCD TV BA5G27G0201 1 UPDATE!

I was able to resolve the issues(s) and TV is working again....well sort of. Seems the owner forgot to tell me the TV apparently got dropped. When I powered it up I saw that the screen is shot, cracked at both bottom corners, lines across the lower 2 inches. Now I am trying to locate a used unit to salvage the screen, for the right price of course. Not a very popular TV or everyone is hanging on to that one.

Anyway, It was suggested by a member of the electronics repair school group on discord to purchase a repair kit for this particular TV. FUNAI L40ME325V-F7A POWER SUPPLY BA5G27G0201 1 REPAIR KIT. Unfortunately I had already order multiples of the needed components because I did not know the kit existed - I could have saved at least half of what I spent in time & money.

The components I had replaced matched what comes with the kit, so I was happy to see I had hopefully diagnosed it correctly... and I did. It just sucks to have gone all through that to find out the screen was damaged.

That sucks that it was broken, I have an old sanyo from 2010, ccfl, very bright and clear and very good blacks imo. Beats my sammy edge lit led hands down no contest.

I've worked on more than a few of these boards and the outlined parts in red seemed to be the most common. These board vary in parts, especially the number of relays on them. The part numbers listed in the title are examples.

These boards (like most appliance boards nowadays) have a kind of protective shellac coated on them. I use professional strength Good Off on solder joins to remove what I can so I can get good contact with my meter leads.

A schematic exists showing what each relay is responsible but I don't have that handy right now....

Operating frequency for motherboard common mode inductor/filter
                      by J_T
I have a question - I have replaced the PSU on my own iMac Pro. However, when removing the motherboard I knocked of a 120 OHM 30% 0.3A small surface mount common mode inductor/filter (~0602 size) in the ethernet circuit near the female RJ45 port.

The closest match I can find on Mouser is 120 OHM common mode inductor at 100MHz - my question is this frequency correct for a motherboard? The schematic for the motherboard only provides '120 OHM 30% 0.3A' and the TDK part number does not return anything in google.

Sorry, I am not experienced hence a basic question.

Mystery 80s Sanyo cap - perhaps polymer?
                      by cj_reha
Hey all I've been working on a 1984 Sanyo 27" color TV which had a smattering of bad caps in the video switching circuit. I found this oddball little 1uF 25V cap which looks to me like an early polymer, but I can't find concrete info proving it. I know Sanyo was a big player in early polymer cap development and this is the time period where they were just getting on the market, so I'm wondering if anyone has crusty old datasheets that could help identify it and determine if my suspicions are right? It has the same epoxy end seal and font/formatting as some old stock Os-Cons I've got laying...

HP ProBook 450-G2 LA-B181P - What is a common resistance?
                      by Jane
I have faulty HP ProBook 450-G2 LA-B181P - doesnot start. When connecting a charger, the LED on plug in connector blinks from yellow to blue. (I tried to search a short on mainboard.)
What is a common resistance ( to ground ) I should measure on a coil that leads to VGA chip(RT8880CGQW) ? I measure only about 9.6 Ohms. Is it normal?

Carrier HK50AA063 display controller common failure help
                      by ctroxtell
I've got a control display for a Carrier chiller that I'm trying to understand what the common failure with these boards are. This is the board in question https://www.supplyhouse.com/Carrier-...arquee-Display all of them seem to develop a failure with the up and down arrow buttons on the right side of the display, the esc and enter keys I've never seen fail. Once these boards are plugged in they run 24/7, you used to have to press extremely hard with the end of the blunt screwdriver and you could still get the arrows to work but now it has completely stopped working. The button...
