17MB82S : Detected but no signal

    Hello there.

First, excuse me, because english is not my mother language.

So, I have a Tucson TV model TL2204B274 for many years now, and the HDMI never worked.
    Let me explain.
I have a laptop with an HDMI output (on Debian Buster), so I can test the output. When I connect via HDMI, it IS detected as a Vestel TV (which is obvious, since the internal board is a Vestel 17MB82S).
But, when I switch source to HDMI ON the TV, it says "No signal" (with the 5min timer).

The sub board which contains the LED and the IR receiver have been broken years ago, but I managed at least to resolder the IR receiver, so remote control works fine.

I tried to update the firmware with the correct instructions, but it DOESN'T update (or at least I don't know, since I don't have the LED.

Note also that I manage to have a "new software" but was a bad one (glitchy yellow screen), but only on the USB, and it only worked ONCE. I managed to find the correct 17MB82S update PKG file, but I CANNOT boot on it.

So, what is going on with my HDMI ? And also how can I update the firmware since it doesn't boot (or once within thousands of trials) ?

    Thanks !

Nothing particular, TV works fine, but I just cannot boot the "upgrade_loader.pkg" from the USB and HDMI does not work even if it is detected.

And what do you mean by "first time" ?

Re: 17MB82S : Detected but no signal

Maybe it is some kind of Hardware failure. But it is very strange since my laptop detect the HDMI as a Vestel monitor....
But thank you very much for the 1505 code !
And a small and not that important question :
One time, with an "upgrade_loader.pkg" which wasn't the correct one, I manage to boot the TV in a strange mode. It was all yellow glitch screen, but it has some fadeout when I push buttons and all. Also, it didn't install anything on the TV, I just shut down and remove the USB and all was back to normal. Any clue of what that is ?
I did it with the "Turn on the TV while pressing OK on RC" method.

                        So I tried :
                        - Laptop Debian Buster (with XRANDR)
                        - Nintendo Switch
                        - Sony Playstation 3 (with correct settings to set the output to HDMI)

None of them worked, but on the laptop the HDMI is detected.
I only have 1 HDMI plug on the TV (even if it says HDMI 2 enabled on the service menu).

Note that I have a brother with the exact same TV but his HDMI works.
So I very suspect hardware failure.

Hi everyone, I posted this over in AVSForum and someone mentioned I should try posting here. Does anyone have Sunfire Ultimate Receiver Firmware update 3.22? Sunfire only has version 3.20 on their website, I was told by one of the few people that worked on these units 3.22 is the latest version but his computer just stopped working. I've emailed Sunfire several times and they won't respond or update the version on the site. Any help is much appreciated!

Hi everyone, over the past few months i have taken a deep dive into motherboard diagnostics and I love the challenge. Currently im trying to learn all about the signals that travel around the motherboard, such as frequencies, enable signals High and Low logic states etc. And i have been learning to read and using the Schematics for this board that i requested here on Badcaps forum, from a few months ago, this is such a great place for these.

I’ve been working on a GA-970A-DS3 (rev. 1.0) that does not post. This motherboard has been my main learning board. I would like share...

Before I replaced 5 caps, the screen was dim.
                            Sometimes it wouldn't turn on.

I opened it up, and found 4 bad caps in the pwr supply section.

I unfortunately installee one backwards, i.e. wrong polarity.

When I turned it on, I head a loud pop, and I quickly shut it off.

                            The replaced caps are 3 860uF 25V's, and 1 330u 35V.
                            One of the 860uF blew.

I didn't have another 860uF at home, so I tried it with a 1000uF 35V cap (I remember the reading of the 1k uF cap was close...

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
