    Sanyo DP42828

This 42" Sanyo is giving me some shit. Has the 2S2B problem. I can't seem to find anything wrong with it or am looking in the wrong place. I need to figure out this ESR meter also, Can I test ESR while the Cap is still on the board or do I need to remove a leg?.

    Thanks

Here are the boards, Any suggestions would be nice

Not sure if it means anything but when I unplug the right inverter and push the power button nothing happens

    With the right plugged in I get 2 s 2 b

I just noticed one of the 2 transformers has a burn mark on the side. So I will try to hunt one down.

Looks like I'm ordering a ring tester this week

You can check the ESR of a cap while it is still in the board. However, it is important that you pay attention to the circuit connections. Many power supplies use several identical capacitors in parallel. If you are measuring one of those caps, you are actually measuring the aggregate ESR. For example, you are measuring a capacitor with an ESR rating of .2 ohms; you read .1 and conclude it is good. However, it is in parallel with three others. A set of four good capacitors in parallel should read less than .05 ohms, so at least two of these capacitors have a high ESR. The good news - this is rare. And on monitor power supplies it is easy to see if multiple capacitors are parallel.
