I have a Vizio D55un-E1 that has both no backlights or picture to the screen. I try to flash a light to the screen and cannot see any faint picture. When the tv is plugged in and powered on the led light will show for a couple seconds and then slowly fade away. Pictures are posted below.

Re: Vizio D55un-E1 No picture or Backlights
When the tv is first turned on it will go to 55v/56v and then drop to 34v. When powered on and off again it will just go to 34v. The only time i can get it at 55v ish is when i unplug for a couple seconds and plug the tv back in.
The voltage on 15- BL_O/F and 16 - DIM is at 4.8v.Last edited by blake.s; 02-12-2020, 03:11 PM.Comment

Re: Vizio D55un-E1 No picture or Backlights
If the voltage gets to 55~65v then drops , this usually indicates an open led string. The led circuit monitors the led current and will error if it is to high or in this case likely 0 current.
If you look at the back of the board and CN9101, pins 15&16 may not be usedLast edited by R_J; 02-12-2020, 03:25 PM.Comment

Unplug the connector from the power supply and use the + of the tester on one of the brown wires and the - on the black wires. If you probe at the panel, I suspect all the browns are connected together at the panel, so probe at the panel end. It might not be a bad led but a poor connection in that panel plugLast edited by R_J; 02-12-2020, 03:51 PM.Comment

by csmithThis Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance. -
by DXseekerMOSo here we go with another screen short TCL. For this exercise left and right will be reference looking at the screen.
The person I got this TV from said the color was bad in a vertical fashion about 1/4 of the way over the left side of the screen. Shortly after the symptoms below started.
Power Supply, main and T-CON board are working.
Symptoms: The TV has backlights but no picture with both FFC's attached to the T-CON and does not respond to the remote or buttons, and the TV appears to continuously re-boot.
Unhook FFC from left side... -
by x_orange90_xI've had this monster for several months as I've hesitated to order backlights for it. Finally did order them and they are due to arrive tomorrow. Besides having ample space to work, are there any recommendations for working on such a massive screen? Should I remove the panel by myself or would 2 people be a better choice? I bought the double-cup suction cups from Harbor Freight and have been using them for the last few repairs on smaller screens. They are far superior to the single cup orange ones I used previously that would often let go without warning 😱.
I have not replaced... -
by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
