    KDL-46EX523 T-Con Board

Troubleshooting my Sony Bravia KDL-46EX523.Curious if there are fuses on this T Con
board I can check? I have found that when I remove the LVDS cable from
the T-Con board, the 12 Volts test point on main board comes back.I have
replaced the LVDS cable with a new one. No luck trying to find a service manual.

The fuse is on the top right beside the LVDS connector. Does your Sony give a blink code? Have you tried powering one side of the tv at a time with one ribbon connected? Does the TV turn on with backlight and no video which is why you should suspect the tcon?

        Re: KDL-46EX523 T-Con Board

        Hi,
That was my next step.Try powering it up taking one ribbon cable off at a
time.I get 5 blinks on my LED when trying to power it up.Code points to the
T-Con board. The power supply to main board cable has some issues also.
For some reason I have to position it just right just to start the trouble
shooting process.I will probably have to replace it. If taking one off and the problem
goes away, am I looking at a bad panel?

Found fuse on T-Con board...read fine.Took off each ribbon cable one by one
and no change.Like I mentioned in the previous post, the cable running from
the main board to the power supply has issues.I tested the 12 volts at the
test point on main board, but went down as soon as the main cable was
slightly touched.Have to replace that like now to really continue the
          troubleshooting steps.

Is the 12V the only that disappears when touching the cable between main and the power supply board? If that is all, then you can just solder in wire just between main and power supply board for the 12V line so you can do more test from there for now..

Check all the micro fuses on the main board. There should be one for the 12V to the TCON supplied through the LVDS cable.

                Hello all,
Been awhile since I have been here, been spending time with the family.
Okay..so I am back troubleshooting this tv.Since I last wrote, I was having
a intermittent power issue with my wiring harness.Since then I ordered a new
one. I also bought a new main board before I had the wiring issue. With power
applied, I would see a red light coming from behind the main board. As of now
no red light at all.Checked dc voltage at pins coming from the power supply
not getting any 12 volt dc at all. Tested fuse..tested fine.Am I missing
                something here?

                      Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
