    VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

    Good day All,

Friend braught me a VISIO D60-D3 to look at, it has vertical lines on the screen, and before I put money/time into it, I am looking for opinions on the Issue, I belive it is the T-Con Board but want to make sure it is not the screen itself. see pictures, also keep in mind screen is on its side. these images are when I am not connected to any input, except for the white image. what ever color screen I will feed it from my laptop via HDMI it will slowly fade into that color, but can't get an image, movement of the mouse button will make a full vertical bars move.

Attached are two videos, one where you see my laptop screen and the TV screen, that bar at the top is the mouse, and in the other video the the changing vertical bars at the bottom (Right) is me moving the mouse.

Today I tried a replacement T-Con board and no Luck, any way to confirm if it is the main board or the display?
also disconnecting the left ribbon I get half the screen white, when I disconnect the Rght one right half stays black

Screen issue, start looking at the tab bonding boards, you need to remove the LCD metal frame to get to them.
We also need the pictures of the whole back side of the TV showing all the boards so we can also see if the tab bonding are on the top or bottom edge of the LCD panel.

          Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

I have attached pictures of the whole back side, the tab bonding boards are along the bottom edge, I removed the metal frame/cover part and no sign of the strips coming unglued, I moved boards around, pushed slightly on the tabs while TV is on and no change, disconnected the 'jumper ribbons' and reinstalled them. not sure where to go from here. is what I am seeing with a ribbon disconnected normal? one side black the other white?

            Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

yes its normal to see half white and other half black
reserve the disconnected ribbon and check what you will have

edit... question.. the photo you add the last one with full white screen... explain which source you feed the set ?

              Diah,

I feed the screen an HDMI signal from my Lap Top and I play a colored screen video that changes between colors red to blue to yellow etc, so I assume I took the picture when it was white I assume you looked at the two videos I attached?. For the ribbons to the TCon, they have been on and off a few times with no change. not sure what you mean though with 'reserve' in you message Typo?

                Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

i just saw your videos .. its fault at refresh rate at panel .. three parts are responsible on it panel self. and MB CPU or its driver ..its much to me Main Boards issue .. but only with oscillators need to check the signal wave via LVDS to be sure or if you have under hand replacement working MB to check..

i suggest you to start with upgrade or downgrade the firmware to be sure all driver rolling up again

                    thanks Diah,

Will try tonight to do something with the firmware, I have no replacement Board to test with. Regarding the oscillators any guidance on how to check or which pins/test points to use.

                      Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

In general over LVDS we have the following pins
12V DC could be many pins almost they are near each other.
                      GND
                      Rx1[0]N follow it Rx1[0]P N= - P= +
                      Rx1[1]N follow it Rx1[1]P
                      Rx1[2]N follow it Rx1[2]P
                      follow GND pins to separate
                      Rx1CLK- = LVDS Clock
                      Rx1CLK+
                      Follow GND
                      Rx1[3]N follow it Rx1[3]P
                      Rx1[4]N follow it Rx1[4]P
                      GND
and so on start other group with Rx3[1-2-3]N Rx4[1-2-3]N depend on screen and design
GND pin used always as separated point between groups.

best way of course if there service manual or data wave sheet. or to compare between RX groups when the signal clear one color 0.0.250 range of any RGB

                        Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

Just to be clear from Post #1 "movement of the mouse button will make a full vertical bars move."
The pictures number 3 ~ 5, so those Vertical bars are not always at the same position and just in the one half of the panel?
If they do move around then it is not LCD problem.

                          Re: VIZIO D60-D3 vertical bars

This evening I was going to confirm if I could see the mouse movement across the whole screen, which I believe is the case, but to make my case worse or better, not sure how to take it, I now have no image at all, and no sound, disconnecting one of the ribbons on the T-Con does nothing nor does replacing the Tcon. I checked voltages going to the MB on the PS and voltages for LED lights are at 17V (3 positions) and 3 volts at expected logic 'on' positions Main IC with heat sink gets hot even after 2-3 minutes. I attached picture of MB in case someone has ideas of tests I can do.

To clarify the original issue, it is screenwide, and for example the mouse Arrow would do a complete vertical line the 'V' icon the same (that is what you see in the original pictures. roughly, If you project a picture and look at one vertical line, the predominant color for that line is what you will see vertically top to bottom. or if it makes sense there is no horizontal definition.
