    Flickering on Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA

    Hello,

I'm hoping someone can assist me as I'm literally pulling my hair out over this!!

I have a Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA, this TV has these internal parts:

    Samsung BN59-01239A Wi-Fi Module
Samsung BN44-00878A Power Supply / LED Board
Samsung BN94-10960Y Main Board for UN55KS800DFXZA

The TV picture started flickering/rolling about 2 months ago after being on for more than 15-20 minutes. Since the TV is 2 years old, it's out of Samsung warranty and no longer covered by the place we bought it (Best Buy) so I started looking into online fixes.

I read up about Samsung 55" TV's having an issue with an uncut jumper, so I cut jumper 854 but it was on the hot side and the TV wouldn't stay powered on. I soldered the jumper back and everything was back to the flickering/rolling after 15-20 minutes.

I then found jumper 845 and cut that (mostly because there was some mention of it being an alternative to cut) but the TV made a weird crackle noise so I immediately turned it off, unplugged and once it had been off a bit, I soldered the jumper. Then it was back to the constant flickering/rolling once the TV has been on for more than 15-20 minutes.

Next I ordered Samsung BN44-00878A Power Supply Board, replaced and 15-20 minutes later, the flickering returned!! I checked the capacitors on both boards, none look to be bulging and the board looks otherwise OK. I'm thinking about trying to replace the main board next but that one is $100+ anywhere I've been looking.

Does anyone know if this is a jumper issue, should I try cutting something else or just go with the main board replacement? Or is there anything else I could be missing? Two power boards and it's the exact same issue, I'm thinking I'm barking up the wrong tree. Or perhaps cut my losses and buy a new TV? I can attach pictures of the flicker/rolling if it would help.

    Thanks in advance!!

    1) Well, I hope you did not cause any more damage to the TV due to the fact that the so called cutting the jumper in the old Samsung TV with power supply board BN44-OO342B to fix the flickering problem is non sense, all it does is removing protection circuit from shutting down due to low PFC Voltage, and your TV does not use that power supply board and your TV is also uses LED backlights.
    2) You are saying it is flickering, are you saying the Backlights is flickering or the Video is flickering?
    3) We need good clear pictures so we can see what we are dealing with. You also need to do some Voltage checking.

I purchased a whole new board that I've never cut any jumpers on, it's a duplicate of the board that was inside the TV so it's the correct board. I have that board in the TV now and still get the same issue.

I've attached four pictures, both before and after the issue occurs (which is continuously as the TV is on, it's non stop).

The TV has the OneConnect and one set of pics is with the OneConnect unplugged so it's not that external component.

I've attached the pics, I'm also trying to attach a short video. Thank you for your suggestions. It's late here so I can't check voltage asst the moment.

I have seen similar problems with tv flickering or rolling and this points to a faulty panel. The other Techs speak of cutting the traces marked CKV1, CKV2 CKVB and this might be a unique Samsung panel issue. Other people would take sellotape and blank off some of the pins withing the flat ribbon connector randomly until the issue resolved but these are normally when the TV is rolling or flickering constantly not like your with a intermittent issue. Maybe someone else in this forum has different advice?

The TV does actually constantly roll and flickers. I'm not sure I've ever heard of thia process though, any type of link to how it's done or more info I can read up on before attempting?

Here are video examples of the issue. To recap, thia issue happens anywhere between 10-15 minutes after the TV has been on and continues until it's been off for about 30 minutes and then it happens all over.

Try turning the backlights level down NOT brightness, see if theres any change.

It was at 13, I just turn it down to five. I'll let you know if that makes any changes. Brightness right now is at 45, contrasted 100. Sharpness is 50, color is also 50. Tint G / r is G 50 / R50.

That is Gate drive issue (look for side tab driver COF), it is panel problem, not backlights issue. taped off method may work.

Turning down the backlight seem to keep it from flickering in a rolling for longer than it's been in a while, going to keep the TV on and see how long it lasts. Thank you.

Hmmm, you may have more than one issue, pretty sure your double image text is a panel fault, as mentioned, try the "cut tape" method, see if you can get that cleared up first.

Turned down the back-light to 5 as I mentioned earlier and the TV has stayed without a problem since I turned it on this morning and made those changes.

Thank you for the suggestion, however I'm still concerned with what the major issue might be??

Usually points to a weak backlight somewhere.

I'm surprised too but this is how good the picture ha been since I turned it on at 6am. There's been a little jump here and there, but it's barely noticeable.

Cool, it might run for a long time like that, I would turn the backlights down to as low as you can tolerate, the less hard they have to work the longer they will last.
