    Vizio m65-D0 help

I have a vizio m65-d0 television. When this model was new it was well known for its 4K issues with the PS4 pro. But with a number of firmware updates from VIZIO the 4K issues were addressed. Well fast forward a year or so later and my main board went out. I replaced the board and now it's acting like it did before the FireWire updates.

    Having issues with
(1)PS4 pro will play games in 4k but not in hdr
    (2) Or the PS4 Pro will play games in hdr but not 4K.
(3)The PS4 also says my tv doesn't offer 4K with hdr (but it does and I remember it doing all of this before vizio released the firmware updates)
    (4) The same movie in uhd hdr10 looks identical to 1080p.

-Yes uhd is switched on in hdmi settings (this tv broadcasts uhd in hdmi 1 and 5)
-Yes it's plugged in hdmi 1 (the only hdr hdmi input for this tv)
    -Samsung true 4K player.
    -Onkyo Pass through receiver.

The tv is showing it has the latest firmware update but since it's acting exactly like it used to before the updates, I'm wondering if another board holds the memory to the firmware updates and with it already being up to date it's not allowing the new main board the opportunity to download the newest firmware update? I tried the factory reset twice but it says up to date. Any help would be greatful, thanks.

This TV has 3 different main boards. I wonder if you got the correct main board to your serial number. If you still have your old main, you could read the eeprom and compare it with your current one or swap the eeprom chips.
The firmware is stored on the main board only. You could look for an eeprom dump and flash the IC with a programmer and see what happens. If it doesn't work, you can flash you current one back.
Also if the firmware sez it is up to date, it doesn't always mean that there is actually a new firmware available. So check it on VIZIO's website and confirm.

The tv would only cycle on and off but after replacing the main board it now finally stays on. The main board I bought is the one recommended for this tv according to the serial number. I checked with a couple different websites and they all said the same. when I replaced the board there were only a couple of other boards (power board, led, t con etc) which other main boards would I be missing? And the tv is showing the most up to date firmware update but it's sure acting exactly like it did before the updates. And yes I do still have the old main I will break it back out and take a look at it. I asked erno from erno electronic about a replacement eeprom and he said my tv doesn't have that. So I don't know but I do know I want to learn. Thanks

Yours doesn't have an eeprom? Maybe upload a high resolution picture, so we can read the numbers written on the IC's.

...so I did have a look at a mainboard... I couln't identify an eeprom on it (pix aren't that good to read numbers off them). But I did see something that looks to be an eMMC on it. That is where the TV boots off of, firmware and custom stuff like apps etc. In order to figure out if that eMMC is good, you need a programmer like a UFI box, RT809h etc with the correct bga adapter or go with flying wires. Same idea here. Read the chips, test the broken chip by trying to rewrite it, copy files, test the main board. If you have bad blocks by writing on it (just "FF" or delete everything, check the chip that it is blank), If something didn't write, or you get bad block errors, the chip is bad.
I see a JTAG and an UART port on there too... looks like something to play with!
Read up on how an eMMC works.

as CapLeaker suggusted good way.. also if the new MB identies same as old one, log in service menu and reset the TV to factroy condition, Panel and T-con seriel and driver will over write on the new board

... aaand YES, that can be. No SPI or eeprom. I have a board like that here.

I have an LG board (55LN5750UH) here, has no thing else than main IC, 10GB Ram (2x4GB+2GB) and the eMMC. No SPI, no eeprom no other device of any kind that can store anything. But this is getting off topic now and you can research it if you want.

i searched and found photo of the mother boards of LG LN5300 which used same XD engine of the one you mentioned . it had 25 SPI FLASH. IC1300. ok let back to the post issue.

thanks for the link.. this board also had SPI Flash exact near UART. but i cant read it its 32 or 25 or 24. however when it connect to programmer software it will detect it to us and read its name and capacity

LG-55-55LN5700 main board isn't a smart TV, yes it will have an EEPROM memory for TV configuration and other setting, this information is small.

smart TV store APPs and the TV configuration and other setting, so an EEPROM is too small and can't store too much information, So smart TV uses Flash memory or NAND MEMORY. they are the same as a Flash drive

This Vizio m65-D0main board seem to be using a SMD flash memory, which will be a challenge to copy, you will need a special adapter to start and the right programmer.

Yes, the image isn't clear enough to read the IC U32, that will be my guess. most likely that the NAND memory
